Thread regarding Ford layoffs

I will volunteer to be laid off if Ford is okay giving me my 401k vest

This company has no long term future; this is the titanic slowly sinking. I wouldn't be surprised if Ford is bankrupt within 3 years or bought up by another company and all of us are laid off

that means you’re less than 3 years employed , WTF you get here in the first place, if you think Ford will be insolvent in 3 years

Ford will target those who are unproductive and not contributing to the company first. Those who are within retirement qualification. Those who has less than 4 years with the company. You all are targetted to be eliminated first.

Ford would NEVER give you their money before you are vested. It’s delusional to think that they would do this because if they did it for you, they would have to do it for everyone else too.

@OP, You should bring this up with your supervisor or manager. I’m sure that they would be happy to hear it and would take prompt action on it.

Ford has years before this happens. It all depends on 1. How bad the next recession/ depression will be. 2. Consumer trends: Ford doubled down on high end trucks and SUVs to maximize contribution margin per unit. You only realize the benefit if people buy them. They still are buying them for now… 3. The entry to the US market w/ more Chinese OEMs (they are already here with Polestar/Volvo): if the Federal government does not put controls in place, I feel the US industry will not be able to adapt quick enough. 4. Labor: if the UAW does strike again with a combination of the three above points, then its bankruptcy. 5. A lesser of significance: Quality/ Design. Not as important because it appears all the OEMs (even Toyota) are churning out junk these days. Not saying Ford could not make just a little more junk than the next guy accelerating their demise.
