The only thing Centene is good for these days is to be a stepping stone for better things. Get in, grab a year or two of experience, three at the most, and then move on. You used to be able to build a career here, but not anymore. Not for years. Go somewhere else for that.

You’d do much better if you come from another company and placed in a senior position. Organically, very few if any senior leaders are promoted. Except for HR, which is smiling and giggly. Be sure to be prepared with an answer in case any senior leader asks your favorite ice cream flavor.
Being at the company for 20+ years and not recognizing the company is likened to a sinking ship is very miopic. The culture has gone downhill and the mask is swiftly lifting. There are employees and former employees from various departments describing their experiences, including the increased workload as a result of sporadic but calculated layoffs. This is definitely a place to work for 2-3 years and transition to another company.
This entire situation speaks volumes. A contrast of realities. There’s strength within the organization, but also its challenges. This seems to be the trend across most managed care organizations nowadays. My advice: stay sharp if you’re in it. Trust cautiously, and, like the Cheshire Cat in Alice in Wonderland, keep an enigmatic smile. Stay elusive—visible when needed, but never fully showing your hand. Focus on delivering results. Avoid complaints. Steer clear of conflict. Keep your head low and lead with subtlety. That’s the way to navigate this environment. If you do, you can ensure you’ll stay clear of layoffs—stay relevant and don’t disrupt the top line. Best of luck.
It depends….if you’re in a worthless position you won’t go anywhere, but that’s the same at any company…
When the wrong areas, wrong bosses substantially outweigh the good, it is a problem. The culture has changed for the worse. There is no consistency, heck on meetings management consistently argues with each other about what the right direction is. If management can’t even present a united front, it only causes chaos below them.

I disagree. I’ve been here 20+ years and have been able to build a successful career - that has not changed. does it matter that you’re in the right area with the right boss? of course; it makes all the difference. but a sweeping statement like this is both incorrect and misleading.
