Layoffs are coming. It’s October in a year that begins with 202, so let’s not mince words here folks.
What this community isn’t focused on is what this actually means. Why continuously layoff employees 2 to 4 times per year? The answer is simple - weak, incompetent leadership.
This appears in several ways.
- The C-suite is ineffective at getting corporate officers to adhere to a unified vision (likely because there is none.)
- Execs are bickering between themselves, fighting for a larger share of a shrinking pie and generally not leading effectively. They each have wants but no real strategic vision.
- upper management are ineffective because they have no vision to which they can align, therefore passing buck to lower management.
- lower management has been gutted and is constantly being threatened with layoffs so most competent people have left.
Layoffs are a tool. When it’s the only tool being used, it’s because someone doesn’t know when to use or how to use other tools.
