100 from Tanzu labs? BS, there aren’t that many in the company to begin with.

Broadcom has 26 independent divisions. Replies here typically reflect what individuals have heard or seen in their respective division, or even BU within their division. That’s why some are certain there are no imminent layoffs while others are experiencing them, or are expecting them with high probability. We expect them in the Vcf division as a result of reorg coming out of annual operating planning before the new fiscal year kicks off.

I can confirm you don't have a clue what you are talking about. ESG has been cut to the bone in the last week, and it isn't finished yet. Thanks for running the business into the ground Greer.

Wow, finally ESG has gone? We don't need it and that's great news.

New fiscal start on Nov 4, RIF has to begin before we kick the year off. I would think it will be similar to the June/July RIF, with folks being paid until Dec 27th—to get bonus and RSU vest.

Curious why so many are focused on the October 17-22 window—any credible sources behind this?

Had some conversations. This week stuff if happening. Heard folks are being offered spots with different teams if the want to keep folks in the BU. Hold on to your hats, this may be a rough couple days.

If there are going to be layoffs tomorrow expect the meeting invites to go out later tonight and if you get one, yes, it means time to depart.

Context = you about to find out!

That’s about exactly what I had expected regarding these unsubstantiated fearmongering responses. In an anonymous site, you’d imagine providing some notion of detail wouldn’t be a Herculean ask, if it existed at all.

Again, not expecting layoffs to not happen or large-scale reorganization, but in this off the wall forum of anonymity, you’d imagine some detail would be available.

Are/is there any context related to all of these apparently well known reorganization rumors? Business units affected? Company-wide?

As others have echoed I’ve just seen a lot of unsubstantiated rumors and fearmongering. No doubts they’ll be layoffs, there always are.

A reorg announcement on the 22nd means layoffs , above average, as the reorg is “the reason” vs just general greed.

We see layoff postings like this almost every other week. Trolls will keep spreading FUDs until it becomes true.

Nice Holiday Gift from Hock. At least those RIF’d will be on paid leave until Dec 17th and then they wait 45 days for their severance check (2 months salary plus 1 week of pay for every year in service).

I did hear again, there will be a RIF on next Thursday, October 17th. No idea who or what BU’s but sounded like it was across the board on the VMware side.

It will happen before Oct 22nd so that the reorg call can be done with the remaining survivors.

If your contract says remote, Broadcom cannot change it without your consent. Only thing that Broadcom can do is lay you off.

That is just complete cr-p. Broadcom will do whatever they want to whenever they want to. There was a merger agreement/contract, which said that Broadcom can’t cut base pay of acquired employees, and they went ahead and did it anyway!

I'm sorry to say it but even if you think you are a high performer, you can be laid off at any time. Don't think in terms of when, because it will happen. Focus on your work and keep your head down. My suggestion is to update your resume and get started on LinkedIn if you haven't already. Hock does not see you as immovable. He will dispose of you at any moment. Believe me. I was once like you. If you want to get under his skin, download demo software and post it on Archive.org.

if you choose not to you will have to quit and no package.

If you attended Hock’s coffee talk, you’d know that what others are saying is true—Hock doesn't want remote workers and layoffs are coming for them.

Don't be fooled by those repeating layoff posts. There will be no major layoffs.
Even if many people hope, there's no targeted layoff for remote workers. They will keep working as it is.

All RTO you will be told to report to an office and if you choose not to you will have to quit
and no package. There is no exception and doesn't matter your role. You could be sales or management or a support engineer. Your roles will be replaced by an office worker who actually does work at a major site. Gravy train is coming to an end. No more picking up your kids for lunch and doing groceries and cleaning your house on company time!
