Thread regarding CDW layoffs

The CDW Way of Gaslighting

Poor management, lack of job accountability and overall claptrap communication of why coworkers are laid off is unethical.

When the CEO reports Q1/Q2 losses, that is the reason. Not employees with performance issues. When managers don't document in Workday and invite HR for initial discussions that is a not so silent hidden agenda.

CDW is a technology debt ridden company, where there are too many projects and too little time. Operate the PIs as multi-year plans to understand dependencies, though the team responsible for PIs is highly organized. If a department can't support the structure of PI planning, then look at the leadership rather than attempt to shift the blame to those in positions you planned to eliminate after the Q2 call.

SharePoint is full of out-dated documents

Laptop configurations are subpar, get rid of the News widget and disable the Save Password functionality in Edge through a GPO.

Nice people in EA, the ask here is stop passing through redundant applications approved for implementation.

Leaders who operate on tacit knowledge are easy to spot, they only talk at rather than talk with reeks of controls issues for those who are not qualified for their jobs.

We all know layoffs happen, how this was one happened signals poor choices in leadership.

CDW your layoff tactics are easily found all over the web, verbatim on how to gaslight. Push blame, misdirect, undermine and the final is selective feedback loops where not every person has a voice.

CDW leadership could’ve justified a 10% RIF or more like other tech companies who have recently taken advantage of poor performance to maximize headcount reduction, but they didn’t do that.

I know this much from where I am, and seeing things unfold. There is no stability, whether you have been here for months or years. Sadly, high-performing individuals and teams are axed in favor of profit making and personal politics. There are festering problems that never get resolved because nobody knows how to fix it. By the time someone actually learns how to do something, they're gone. If you are deciding whether or not to join this company, my advice is to look elsewhere for a long term career. If you are already here, update your resume. You never know when the day will come.

Wish someone from Finance would tell us if CDW is all about soft number gaming. How is CDW a $20+ B generator yet the benefits are paltry. Seriously, $90 co-pay for a non PCP? Of the companies I've worked for, CDW takes most of my paycheck.

You did what you were told to survive in this crazy and sometimes dysfunctional company. Let’s be grateful they are no longer in our lives.

Many thanks to those who made us aware of impending layoffs and why rather than the scripts we listened to.
