Thread regarding CDW layoffs

We really can relax a bit for now?

With prior layoffs they were done in 1 day. For those remaining, you can relax a bit but brush up your resume and keep it on deck just in case. Another poor/soft Q4 and Q1 and you’re probably looking at another round of layoffs in April 2025.

You’re likely going to find that pay in tech at other companies has also been slashed as part of these waves of layoffs. If you were in a position where you don’t need benefits, and you’re able to hustle, you may be far better off being a hu----r, then getting another job.

  • Yeah the former CDW DV Cloud GM left last year and created his own startup related to AI and took with him a few DV coworkers. Yup no real strong vision for AI plans except inviting industry Partner guest speakers to talk about how they're using AI. And don't forget CDW is still in the AI game, they will sponsor lotsa customer lunch & learn roadshows to sell Copilot licenses and next-gen AI enabled laptops.

The meeting Aletha just held to settle everyone down was pretty lackluster, no Q&A allowed and no answers aside from moving Jeremy Wilson to head the IBM Z team. Granted, I have not worked much with IBM but that doesn’t feel like a new strategy. Reading yesterday that Accenture is training 30k consultants on NVIDIA solutions and will probably earn billions in consulting fees developing AI for F500 companies has me shaking my head at how behind we are.

Please stay! CDW is going to make amazing things happen according to their commercials - LOL! What's been amazing is the C-Level bonuses - a big pat on the back reward for the fake job well done these past couple of years.

The time is now to get serious about getting an edge with your career profile - take advantage of Partner trainings and certifications - keep upskilling. Currently the market is saturated with lots of qualified candidates especially in Tech.
