With prior layoffs they were done in 1 day. For those remaining, you can relax a bit but brush up your resume and keep it on deck just in case. Another poor/soft Q4 and Q1 and you’re probably looking at another round of layoffs in April 2025.

You’re likely going to find that pay in tech at other companies has also been slashed as part of these waves of layoffs. If you were in a position where you don’t need benefits, and you’re able to hustle, you may be far better off being a hu----r, then getting another job.

The meeting Aletha just held to settle everyone down was pretty lackluster, no Q&A allowed and no answers aside from moving Jeremy Wilson to head the IBM Z team. Granted, I have not worked much with IBM but that doesn’t feel like a new strategy. The time is now to get serious about getting an edge with your career profile - take advantage of Partner trainings and certifications - keep upskilling. Currently the market is saturated with lots of qualified candidates especially in Tech.
