Look, folks, Humana is really struggling right now. It’s not good, not good at all. They’ve got issues, and everyone sees it. You can't just keep doing the same things and expect different results. They need to wake up and realize that things aren’t what they used to be. It's a tough market, and if they don’t get their act together, it could get a lot worse. Sad to see, really.

Looks like they’ve done just the opposite of ensuring leadership that understands Medicare. Just look at the MarketPoint funnel, where areas are taking the brunt of blame for dropped star ratings and the leadership, starting at the top, are all buddies from T-mobile. With talent from within (or at least within the industry) we have friends of leaders, with no market or Medicare experience leading the boots on the ground.
You make some really valid points. It’s concerning to see a company like Humana push out experienced leaders who truly understood the Medicare landscape. When you replace those individuals with leaders from different industries, it’s no surprise that challenges arise.
Leadership in a complex sector like healthcare requires a deep knowledge of regulations and market dynamics. Losing that institutional knowledge can lead to poor decision-making that ultimately impacts employees and clients alike.
Humana needs to rethink its approach to leadership. They should prioritize bringing in people who not only have management skills but also a strong grasp of Medicare. This would help build a stronger foundation for the company and support the associates who remain. It’s really about recognizing that the people who built the company are invaluable to its future.
Humana forced all leaders that actually “built Humana” out a few years back. The hundreds of “combined years” of leadership that Humana pushed out is mind-boggling. Any leader with high performance and YOY proven results had to go. Humana then hired leaders with zero Medicare experience. Those leaders brought in others from their previous roles from a different industry, with no medicare experience. How can anyone be surprised about this outcome? Companies do not run themselves. This industry requires Medicare-knowledgeable leaders. Humana forgot that “people” built this company, it didn't just happen folks! The associates that remain at this failing company are now victims of poor decisions from the top/board and leadership that remains “uneducated in the business of Medicare”.
Facts! Humana's really not vibing right now. If they don’t step it up, things are just going to keep spiraling. It’s wild to see, honestly.
Totally agree! Humana is in a seriously rough spot. It isn't good. It isn't going to get better. They’re stuck in the past and need to make some big changes. They better wake up fast. We can’t just keep taking these kinds of losses and expect things will improve.
Maybe it is better if someone buys us out.
Not true. UHC stock is at all time highs. They are kick our a-s
CVS, Yes. UHC, no. UHC stock is at record highs
While it’s true this isn’t just an Himsba issue, our competitors seem to be able to navigate rough waters without the impact to their bottom line and stock value. Humana does need to scrutinize top leadership and consider making changes. This was made abundantly clear on the AES, which results were terrible. People don’t trust the top leaders in their organization. The workers bees see many things wrong but can’t get an audience with AVPs and above. I don’t see this as a DEI issue as most of the top leaders are not diverse, so ending DEI wouldn’t work. Some divisions continue to add worthless layers of management which adds no value. It may be time to clean house and start from nothing.
Humana is hemorrhaging bad. We need new leadership. Take the lead like other companies and get rid of DEI that just spreads hate. We need unity...not division.
You realize this isn’t just Humana, right? CVS just laid off over 3K employees because of this exact same reason. Walgreens and United health care to follow. Stop acting like this is just a Humana issue. #fakenews
