Two days after my layoff!
Today, I signed the release form and shipped back my equipment. It's sad, but I couldn't stand having it on my desk any longer!
Since Wednesday, I've applied for three jobs recommended on my LinkedIn profiles and have two interviews lined up today for next week. So, to ALL the Tech folks, impacted companies are looking for US, our skills and experience! AND WE do have IT!
Finding a new job will take some time, but I'm excited to start the weekend with those interviews scheduled—I need to stay optimistic!
I wish my resume were more up-to-date before submission—but hey, progress task for next week!
Also, after all the information CDW employees share here, I will look up companies I will interview with!

To everyone stating that smaller shops are better—-that isn’t necessarily true. Most of these tech companies are run by trust fund babies who don’t actually know how to run a business….just like the id--ts that run CDW. It all the same animal out there. I’ve worked for large and small companies and it’s all the same bullsh-t. Keep your head up and look out for YOU. Fu-k these godda-n companies.
"Go try the smaller shops, not the SHI’s and Insights. The smaller shops need your skills and you will be more secure and have more fun."
Yeah, I'm still employed but looking, thought it would be fun to try this route, be the "local guy" we always run in to and sometimes lose against. So I had an interview, went really when, started to talk about the pay and unfortunately it was $40K less for basically the same role.
Just one example, not trying to discourage but for me it didn't work out.
IMHO, be opened to opportunities in other growing industries. Solar energy is booming, same for bio tech. IT Tech is in a rough patch and no guarantees it will see any resurgence soon because stupid horses a$$ will eat itself to its demise.

Challenger, Gray & Christmas - that's the name of the company you can search for
"Use the career coaching they provide as part of the severance. They were incredibly helpful in helping me prepare for and land the next best job."
For those of us not let go but still looking, what was the name of the service they provided ?
Use the career coaching they provide as part of the severance. They were incredibly helpful in helping me prepare for and land the next best job.
Did you eventually land a new job? Currently here but looking on a daily basis for new openings to apply to. Have come across the panel presentation as well in one of my interview processes which I thought was a bit odd to have to present, but maybe more are doing that now.
"And that's what I'm hearing from my friends still on the inside ---that morale is low and continuing to sink by the day."
- Yes I heard that too. I mean the RIF happened 3 times now since last year and each time is a gut punch to morale. And you're right, I saw a lot of disorganization and chaos in 2022-23 and big part of that was re-org andactivities along with new tools (Salesforce) --- which wasn't working well and took forever to integrate. At say the 2 year mark they were still trying to figure out the integration mess.
I'm sure lots of insiders, which I'm hearing too, are brushing up their resume and either starting to look now or waiting till the new year. There will be an exodus of good people - both legacy CDW and former Sirius folks. Sirius workers are also wondering what the he-l happened to their company which was a good/strong IT Solution & Services player? Going to sh--s.
OP - sorry about the layoff - I went thru it myself. Got rid of my CDW swags and golf shirts - didn't want any of it.
Glad you've got the ball rolling applying and getting interviews setup. But I must warn that the road can be tough and lengthy. I had good opportunities lined up where after round 1 or 2 of interviews - the position was pulled due to a re-org or another one that went well but then you get ghosted. For some reason there's a lot of ghosting stories out there because the jobs weren't real. I've had interviews where they liked me - wanted to know more about me, my skills, comp I was looking for but then ultimately told me they didn't have a position for me at this time but might open up soon.
I've been hit with hiring freezes including places like SHI and Insight. I had 3 interviews at Insight after a Recruiter reached out to me - interviewed with Hiring Mgr and then passed the Technical interview with flying colors only to find out that they are holding off on the position and redirecting the Headcount into another area in the Dept.
For some reasons I found many companies were doing 4 rounds of interviews. I had 2 cases where I had to do a Presales presentation and then another one involved a mock Consultative Sales scenario. Man I've been hearing a lot of companies over the past year have dragged out their interview processes to many rounds unseen before - and I've faced it myself.
I'm just saying that for sure be optimistic - you will face some rejections and opportunities that go nowhere (and you'll get ghosted with no response) but pull your socks up and continue hammering away with networking and applying. Hopefully you get something soon but don't be down on yourself and don't be surprised if it takes a few months to secure something. Big suggestion - work on your interview answers and rehearse it to sound confident and natural.
I was part of the first RIF back in 2023, after working at CDW for many years. All my years at CDW were good ones except the last year 2022-23 which was utter madness. My experience with layoffs is that once a company starts them, they become "part of the levers" used annually on the balance sheet forevermore, and will irrevocably change morale towards toxicity. And that's what I'm hearing from my friends still on the inside ---that morale is low and continuing to sink by the day. One year + later, I can tell you there is happy life after CDW. CDW still carries significant clout in the sector, and your experience there in the fast paced environment will be a benefit to you in your hunt (and your interviews). To those of you still at CDW, update your resumes each quarter and get your personal recommendations in order. Good luck to any of you joining us out here in the jungle from this latest unfortunate round.
😭
How come we lose people like this !!!
As a fellow impacted, happy to read you already have interviews lined up. I shipped my laptop back yesterday cuz I didn't want that juju in my house anymore. Time to be grateful for the last 8 years and go through to hopefully grow through, corny as that sounds.
Good luck! I'm still here but plan on leaving early next year - assuming, of course, I can find something else.
