Thread regarding CDW layoffs

Laid off

Was hit by the layoff yesterday, didn’t get so much as a teams message from my manager thanking me for my time, saying good luck, nothing. Just insane to me, shows how much anybody here gives a damn about their employees.

I guess punctuation doesn't exist on your keyboard.

@1isq+1uOgILtu:
To the manager posted, "other companies and CDW" choosing to have lack of empathy does not mean that you have to follow suit. It displays a lack of integrity for anyone who YOU were the leader for? You're joking certainly? I get it, layoffs happen, I don't fear them personally, I know that working for CDW os a contact between MY time and skills for a paycheck. I assess them as much as they assess me, and same goes for my managers. Most people think they owe the company more than that. no! If you have an ounce of integrity towards a team member, be humble and have a human reaction, don't pu$$y around for a company that WILL ditch you at the next wave of layoff anyway.

It may feel personal but it's done like this at all major companies. HR is protecting the company.

And as a manager who has lost people, it su-ks. Obviously no where on the level of the former coworker, but maybe don't paint a broad brush and say we don't care. I think most of us do.

And I'm sorry you were let go. Wishing you luck to find something soon and may it be better than this place.

CDW will chug along trying to put a happy face on sponsoring commercials and advertising on NFL, Golf and College Basketball games.

Sona Chawla (Chief Growth and Innovation Officer) sure did well for herself - selling over $4M worth of CDW shares back in July.

More layoffs to come in April 2025 if Q4 and Q1 turn in soft/poor numbers. Take advantage of training, certifications - make connections with key vendors and keep your resume up to date. CDW for the most part is a high volume / low margin marketing & advertising store front for vendors/partners. 2 years of shortfall and big $$$ spent on acquisitions = 3 layoff rounds so far & nice executive bonuses/stock options.

I know folks who are gonna ride it out for the rest of the year but will start testing the waters and job hunt in the new year. No big secret many will look to do the same.

When I was laid off from CDW in a prior round, yes it was a cold hearted 15 min call with HR and my Director. No real thank you, just dry conversation confirming my personal email address and that an email with the exit/severance package was forth coming - including a laptop box on the way to return laptop + badge.

I knew it was going to be a layoff call - I was able to send out a quick 2 sentence goodbye to my team in Teams chat.

CDW did extend & pay for Health benefits for an additional few months.

It is the norm. I don't even bother saying buy anymore when someone leaves.

Simple test - are there people in your current role making money? If there isn't, then it's your company. If there is, then it's the person. Should be obvious but of course there are exceptions but this is a pretty damn good rule of thumb to follow.

Also to note I was a corporate seller. Lost 3 of my top 5 accounts to acquisitions by bigger CDW customers, carried the goals and had a brutal quarter and let go immediately after.

I am vacation for two week so I have been getting updates from team members. No one seems to know which areas have been impacted. As an employee maybe they can keep thetnjndor.ation confidential. As a stockholder I would like to know which areas have been impacted, as it clearly will have repercussions on business circumstances. Class Action anyone? Or maybe it's time to unionize. Anybody have contacts at the Service Employees International Union?
