Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

Pay Increases

Finally some good news on this front. Anyone know how the US pay increases will work? Who is eligible, and what amounts do we expect?

Nonsense. Maybe it was brought up as a joke in the boardroom. It would unleash a few discrimination lawsuits instantly.

They talked about raises during the town hall last week for "eligible" employees.
They did not define what "eligible" means.

Here's some insider for you. Kicking around is idea that "eligible" is more than 7 years of service and less than 45 years old. Really bad for those who joined the Titanic at age 39 seven years ago. It does not matter how they tell you it will be done. Their goal is to pay less across the board.

Next year's salary increases are funded by the money freed up from the mass layoffs of our colleagues in 2024. Its blood money. They arent "giving" you anything.

Brene says theres a chapter you should read in her book for more information on your raise. KayJay says it will depend on the 1st quarter numbers and valuation of stock price. HR said with the inflated stock price, their coffers have been opened to add new wellness programs to your insurance package. We are a quarter to quarter company now, so crossing my fingers Q1 comes in good for your "hope of raise" sake

As always with this place...quality information is limited and even then it is something different depending on who to and when you talk. Put it this way...have you seen the way they implement new product rollouts??? Expect more of the same with your paycheck and job security efforts going forward w/ the only exception...SLT will continue to see pay bumps and larger bonuses while your sitting in the corner, thumb in mouth w/ continuous rocking back & forth, just happy that you do not have to enter the employment sweepstakes of today. Rock on sheeple, keep riding that fading Light all the way to the North Star!!

Dependant upon your DEI affiliation. Everyone else will get free advanced cultural training. After all is satisfied, your next raise will be dependant upon the manipulated NPS quarterly scores After all that, you will know what your raise will be once the "essential worker" bonus gets paid out from the flu shutdown in 2019-2020.

A 1% pay increase, and then ditching the STI bonuses. Lumen does not manipulate pay unless it's in their favor! If anything at all their move in payout signals people should be jumping ship.

Between this and the phased retirement announcement tells me all I need to know.
This company is not doing nearly as well as they like to spin. Spending millions to hire these execs giving away RSUs like it's Halloween. Meanwhile good talent leaving in droves. They're trying to stop the bleed. This only kicks the can down the road to the next pay cycle. They'll announced no or reduced STI and oh but you get a 2% increase.

This raise mention seems like a ploy to keep people from jumping ship

The carrot system is based on a childhood game "titter totter"
It's a very scientific game all corporations use.
One side go up the other side must go down

Yeah as the earlier poster said, they are using it as a carrot to stop the bleeding of good people leaving.

I would expect 2-3%, you will hear in March how much you will get but they won't do the actual adjustment till mid-June 2025 like always.

If you’re salary and haven’t had a raise in 8 or more years they will throw you a small bone but it will never match inflation. I’m sure we will sacrifice any bonus for it. In other words, not really a raise.

So it's just something they're using as a carrot for the next pay cycle. Nice!
