Why in the world are we hiring? And who in their right mind would accept a job at a company that's about to have major cuts? Make it make sense, please.

We had a college hire join our team in July. I hear they’re already applying to tech company jobs and plan to be gone as soon as they can be.

Never short of a witty jibe, this old fella always turns up to trumpet his self determined superiority. He is way above anyone else here, and he is not afraid to let the crew know it. A real top of the line character this one is.
Cannot wait to hear the sintilating 'shutdown'.
Those guys all should have consulted with the people on this board before accepting a job. Then they could have gotten the low-down first hand info from the real hardcore workers who are dedicated to their jobs and careers and have been at the daily grind for a while. You know, the kind of employees who really put everything they have into the job since they know they need that paycheck to support their families and it's critical. Real, hard-working honest people who can show them the ropes. If that was the case they would surely think differently. You know, if they heard it from someone with integrity, who understand the value of their own high level skillset and knows the value of a dollar and understands that nothing is free. Like the typical person hanging out and doing nothing all day on this site.
Yep, pushing out those Senior engineers during FT really worked out great for Chevron. Clearly we are a more competitive company now than 5 years ago.
I know a lot of people that want in at Chevron - they don't care what this board says lol. I know of recent new hires and it's because of the discipline, we don't have internal talent. We won't stop hiring.
The Global Security team is hiring 8 new people
MW wants the iron fest of YouTube and espionage on employees
More torture guys to join Chevron
@tvr is right. Prior to staffing Bangalulu, hire some cheap labor, have them learn a bit from the current (older, expensive, whining) staff, then layoff the oldsters and have the newbies "supervising" the Indian CTC. There is nothing MW likes better than laying off expensive lifetime employees and replacing them with much cheaper kids.
When you don't have a job, you apply for a job, getting fired is not a concern as long as you don't have a job, the paycheck is far more important than living on government unemployment benefit!
Push out the older, more expensive workers for the younger, cheaper new hires. Bonus to get some free cross-training in the process.
They are most likely hiring younger people in Houston to fill gaps knowing they won’t stay long enough for the modernization project. Those applying to a company doing mass layoffs just want a job. They are not expecting a career. Many things don’t make sense right now.
