It would be one thing if layoffs got rid of low performers. Instead, no matter how hard we work we can't consider ourselves safe. How is that good for morale in any shape or form? It has come to the point where people are leaving on their own to get away from the toxicity. Which, when you think about it, could be exactly what the management planned.

My manager who I thought was the only thing keeping me here became so busy that I can’t even recognize him anymore. So much toxic behavior from other teams is tolerated and people just take credit for other people work. No point of working hard. 😓
I am not saying that some areas are not hostile but mine is not. I have worked here many years, been laid off and re-hired and yes it has always been stressful. Layoffs have always been an ongoing stressor. Some years more than others. But, I have never thought of my job environment as hostile.
I completely agree. I’m lucky I have a great manager that supports me but I can’t help but fear that the shoe could drop at any given moment. It’s not a healthy environment to be working while constantly worrying about seeing all this instability. This year more than ever it has taken a toll on my mental health.
McKinsey minions committee wants to reduce employee count by whatever means necessary except doing the right things - paying severance, following WARN act or not being afraid of media exposure (lowers stock price). So basically by all unethical and immoral means necessary.
Morale is definitely in the toilet.
It seems like it either has to be the plan, or the management committee is completely incompetent and ignorant, or maybe both. On my team, everyone is applying for new jobs, and our manager isn’t even hiding his disdain for our so called “leaders” anymore.
