Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Anthem and Mercy

Anthem about to lose Mercy... This article projects the true colors of Anthem/Elevance Health camouflaged in the "Health of Humanity"! Perhaps the senior leadership who are ex-McKinsey is behind this?

Publicly traded companies are not charities and put shareholder return as #1 priority. That is why they have a Board and the Board hires the CEO. Can everyone stop with the Health of Humanity and doing the right thing nonsense. Feels good but not #1 focus.

Its all about the earnings. They lost Mercy because they didnt deliver the results they promised and the customer has options. Maybe there should be less focus on DEI initiatives and reduce too many Chiefs of Staff and replace with someone who delivers.

If this company treats its paying groups, clients and members like it treats its own employees trying to get health care services, I am surprised they all aren't walking away.

You want to help humanity? Join a religious organization.
Elevance is a for profit entity. Not for good, or for charity; for profit.
Leadership runs it that way. Good for them. Bad for us. (Let the flaming begin!)

It's never been about improving the health of humanity. Those are all just fancy buzzwords to the leadership team.

Nearly every quarterly earnings call discusses the fact that EPS guidance is being increased. That's the priority of leadership; the stock price and pleasing the shareholders. I get that those are important, but those shouldn't be the number one priority of the company.

If the company truly valued its associates and its members, they would be well ahead of their competition instead of lagging behind.
