Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

🌍✊ Stand Up for Healthcare Jobs!

In an era where jobs are increasingly sent overseas, we must rally together to protect the future of our healthcare workforce. Just as dockworkers are standing up against automation, we too must advocate for our essential roles in providing quality care.

Our communities rely on us, and it's time to demand job security, fair wages, and local investment in healthcare. Let’s ensure that our skilled professionals are valued and that patients receive the best care right here at home.

Join us in this vital movement! Together, we can safeguard our healthcare industry and build a brighter future for all.

Unionizing will be the quickest way to lose your job. Unions only serve to protect the worst workers. The most valuable do not need seniority to protect themselves, their work does that. This ship is sinking and trying to cost cut to protect margins does nothing to close the gap against the UHG, Cigna, Aeta who are far ahead.

Just as the high profile and certain states mandate, their information should not be sent overseas. It starts there, but there will be a price difference, and guess which the policyholders will choose?

Dream on. The entire system from the dr-g company suppliers to the hospital CEO down to the janitor would have to be dismantled and rebuilt. Politics and big money interests are too embedded to make single payer happen.
Nice thought though.

Foreign workers fill a critical need in the U.S. labor marketβ€”particularly in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. Every year, U.S. employers seeking highly skilled foreign professionals compete for the pool of H-1B visa numbers for which U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) controls the allocation. With a low statutory limit of visa numbers available, demand for H-1B visa numbers has outstripped the supply in recent years, and the visa cap has been reached before the year ends. Research shows that H-1B workers complement U.S. workers, fill employment gaps in many STEM occupations, and expand job opportunities for all.

I totally agree but just how are we supposed to do that without risky getting fired with no severance.

We need a union. Unions would NEVER allow jobs to be moved offshore or to be taken over by AI
