Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

What was the point of the MN video?

Watched it, can’t understand what it’s about.

This clown was heavily involved in the 2020 Transformation. He lied through his teeth at every zoom meeting. People were losing their jobs and this dunce actually created a new VP position reporting to him then had the audacity to tell us that they earned their pay. He could never tell us what they were all doing but he needed them. MW rewarded MN by making him Vice Chair. MN is inept. The place is a clown house. My suggestion is to get out now before it's too late.

I don't particularly fancy any of the current management, but that video was OK, standard stuff.

It would be better if he had a bit more actionable and also ways that rank and file can influence what they are doing, for example, simplicity. Upper management is so good as sniffing each other's butt cracks they don't know really how to improve things or make things simpler, folks are scared to give real feedback as there are career corpses littered around of the lower PSGs minions that dared to give unvarnished feedback to higher PSGs. That's what they need to go after, weed out the terrible management, it will be hard because the bad managers are so good as sniffing the butt crack and saying it smells good!

Look at our accomplishments, we wrote a report, we scheduled an earnings call...aren't we great?

Poor EB... she is so scared right now... the earnings call that she dreads so much is coming up....
EB - please do us all a favor and step down. The livelihood of thousands of people and their families depends on this company. You know you can't do the job. Step down, don't be selfish, so the company can go on.

@nlh "... we just hope we can weather the storm of bad management and in like a decade when MW and some of his lieutenants are gone, we gotta hope the good folks are promoted." Wow, the naiveté of that statement. You must be like 30 or something. Some points: 1) Chevron continuing on its present course for another decade will be a shell of its present self, just as Chevron 2024 looks like a 98-lb. weakling compared to Chevron 2014; 2) This 'hope for the next generation of leadership' has been the pipe dream for every generation of Chevron underlings. It never happens, each generation just turns out more clones of the last generation's poor management; 3) My experience has been that 'good folks' only make it to maybe middle management at best, they are beat out by the sycophants and (now) diversity placements.

Video is just another piece of evidence that the cull should be top down not bottom up...same leadership same result

"But the good is, there’s some great and sharp middle management"

This must be satire?

MN will be the lead in the 2025 ROM, and he’s starting to show the leadership position he will have for that effort to begin in Q1 2025.

I wouldn’t read too much into that video, it’s a warm, fluffy message with little substance. It’s better to look at what’s happening and use that as your “message”

  1. IT reported to MN for 8 months then went back to BK, that tells you they’re clueless what to do with IT and they have no strategy
  2. NH is gone, PB is gone, RM is gone and EB has been moved 3 times in 2 years. That tells you there’s shakeups happening and instability.
  3. IT LC has the charisma and story telling ability of a politician, so probably best take everything he says with a grain of salt.
  4. MW said in town-hall that Hess was a done deal and should be locked up by the end of 2024, low n ‘ behold the arbitration has been moved to mid 2025 so something might be there.
  5. The lunacy of Data Engineering AG and HR IT manager PL and their id--tic implementation of skills planning initiative

But the good is, there’s some great and sharp middle management, most of your colleagues are probably solid, we just hope we can weather the storm of bad management and in like a decade when MW and some of his lieutenants are gone, we gotta hope the good folks are promoted.
