Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Stakeholder Capitalism

Maybe management needs to learn this before they completely destroy the company with layoffs and outsourcing for short term gains:

Stakeholder capitalism is a business management philosophy that requires companies to consider the interests of all stakeholders, not just shareholders. Stakeholders include employees, customers, suppliers, investors, communities, and more.

Stakeholder capitalism differs from shareholder capitalism, which is the idea that businesses should only be run to maximize profits and shareholder value. Stakeholder capitalism is based on the idea that businesses have a responsibility to create long-term value for all stakeholders, not just shareholders.

Reagan did absolutely nothing that affects or restricts/alters business policies today. You're reaching so far it's absurd. Companies exist, by definition, to make a profit for the owners and shareholders. If you don't like that go work for a non-profit or charity. Non-profits, actually make profit, it's just a tax status based on how everything is cleverly recorded/documented. So maybe a charity is for you?

Reagan caused companies to go from an approach where customers, employees and shareholders mattered (stakeholder capitalism) to what we have today where nothing matters but making money for the shareholders. He was a disaster for the average Joe.

Reagan is to blame for companies reducing their costs? Good grief some of you are dense.

Thinking only the shareholder matter is what's destroyed this country and crushed the middle class. Since Reagan started this employees have been left behind, laid off, outsourced. The average person doesn't own enough stock for a couple penny dividend hike to make a big difference. To get that hike people are laid off and jobs outsourced to get that. Not worth it. The selfishness of the wealthy is wrecking us. It's not woke to care about the average Joe and not just the "Masters"

Shareholder capitalism is all that matters. Maximize value legally. Stakeholder capitalism dilutes returns and is for the woke.
