Layoffs as Prelude to Spinoff

There appear to be 10,000 layoffs that are imminent. Karen is trying to dress up an Aetna Package in the form of a Spin off. Expect the Medicare Advantage and Medicaid businesses to be sold in late 2025. They want 2026 to show better margins. Let’s see.

Good point about the post that seems to be trying to start false rumors about Medicare Advantage business being spun off. Medicare Advantage profit on a per member basis in Aetna has well exceeded the profit on Commercial business for a very long time. No one would consider selling that business after one or two rocky years. And saying 10,000 employees would get laid off... That's a completely false statement. If you work for aetna, you would have read the article on the intranet today and corrected your post.

I think this post really lacks credibility.

The Medicare business has been a significant contributor to the bottom line. Karen and other leadership looks at things from a long-term perspective, would not jump and sell the Medicare business. Secondly, there has been no communication indicating 10,000 layoffs. If you are actually someone who works for Aetna you will see on the internet today an article was published by the SVP of communications. Layoffs will be less than 1% of the entire workforce. Please do the math.
