So we all know - Allstate is doing some serious prepping for layoffs. If you disagree or are doubtful of that statement, you are not paying attention. 1) consultants are everywhere in the company pitching ideas of “streamlining” processes 2) extreme budget cuts in select areas 3) several (more than usual) low performance reviews 4) several VPs and high level management leaving and retiring. If you are anyone who has been at other companies during a massive layoff, you know these are all the signs. I am on my way out of the company because I just signed an offer elsewhere but I highly encourage all of you on this website to start looking. Allstate is number 4 in the insurance market share, BEHIND Geico, Progressive, and Statefarm. They have no choice but to drop employee count for right now.

No layoff for this countdown guy. But I'm still waiting to hear from the guy who said100% that it was happening.
yesterday was the day after the day
today is the day 2 days after the day
did this guy get laid off from work and from posting here?
My life is great, thanks, I’d like to hear from the guy who said 100% that it was happening today.
TODAY'S NOT THE DAY! The lonely soul that continued the countdown needs to get a life.
Today is the day.
One day to go.
The axe is at the blacksmith shop being honed to a fine point this weekend.
Monday's mighty stroke will carve a large swath of both utter brutality for some, shocking surprise for others, and the long-awaited layoff for many who have made this website their denizen of dreams.
Two days to go.
Three days to go.
Four days to go.
Five days to go.
Never eat at a restaurant called Mom's.
Never play cards with a guy named Doc.
And never trust someone who says 100% when something will happen, but does not identify himself.
W/C 14th of October RIFs are happening. It's been pushed any job hiring etc.....has to be sorted before then. I'm not sure how big or widespread it will be, but that is 100% when it's happening. Our product model really means streamlining and cutting number's.
I don't know when they happen in US. And I don't care. But ANI happening within next week or 2.
So when do these "supposed" layoffs start? Who will it impact (claim reps, processors etc)? Only the truth, please. No BS. People want to know what the heck is going to go down this month, if anything.
Good luck to everyone impacted. There's life beyond Allstate. Pity us who have to stay and take on the workload as numbers dwindle. If you get a redundancy offer of months salary to go, bite their hand off
@pqc+1uJH9S0e, I am not stupid, but I did have a brief moment of stupidity by taking the time to read your post. If you really provided something of value to Allstate, after you got off that call you would be back to work. Not whining on this board.
@pqc+1uJH9S0e - you must not be in the executive/finance calls then….. Company-wide Town Halls don’t get very granular
These are the times in which we live. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.
I was LRd last October. For me, it was not a big deal, I saw it coming and prepared accordingly. I worry for those who will be gut-punched and find themselves in a job market with tens of thousands vying for jobs that are increasingly non-remote or worse, non-existent.
Focus on your core capabilities. Increase your skillsets. Contact your network. Save your money. And know: at the end of the day, there is life after Allstate.
Good Luck.
I’m hearing from a credible source that whiners will be the first to be terminated. Watch what you say on this site.
Everyone company takes money and invests it.
We absolutely are going to have a brutal October in terms of layoffs but I think you are leaving out some context in terms of market share. The US is a series of different markets and the reality is that allstate just don't want to compete in some of them as they are too risky and expensive if things go wrong. That naturally is going to lead to allstate falling behind in terms of market share. However the main thing that share holders care about is if we are profitable, and we are. Profits are on an upward trajectory so the doom and gloom isn't all justified, they arent going out of business. Also, listen to the earnings calls - insurance is only a part of how allstate make money. The investment team take the profits and use it to generate more money in the stock market. So long as they keep doing their job well and the main company is profitable then allstate will be fine.
The human aspect of it is more concerning. Jobs are being automated where possible and technology is being used to minimise headcount. I'm on the ATS side of the business and we are going to lose people too as they are being aggressive with mid years and tracking output from teams. If you aren't adding value in their eyes, your position is very much under threat.
For the comment that mentioned we are on a profit upswing - how stupid can you be? Are you paying attention in the meetings? I was just in a call talking about the market share and profit, WE ARE NOT DOING AS GOOD AS THEY SAY. LOOK AT THE NUMBERS. LOOK IT UP ON GOOGLE NUMBER 4 IN MARKET SHARE
We are on a profit upswing; stop the fear mongering.
I’m not sure Allstate is even 4th…
