Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Cigna manager culture

Starting my new role next week. How is the culture in cigna? Are teams toxic, treat new comers as outsider and management dismissing your ideas?

It varies by location and business unit. Some managers are not toxic or hostile, they are just overworked with more than 20 people reporting to them. I suggest looking at your org chart or hierarchy on outlook, and comparing with linked in comments.

If the manager is a grown up it may be better. I see the culture changing to get younger people in high management positions. Which is ok but if they don’t have the maturity to connect with their team it is doomed.

Make sure to document as much as you can. They are doing the same and they don’t care about you. Also, make sure you never make ur boss think ur smarter than they are or you will meet a very very scary demise and or be eliminated from movement and opportunities. I found being quiet and stupid keeps me from abuse as my team and area are really dangerous.

You picked a poor time to join. Morale is low across the board.

That being said, team/manager culture at Cigna varies wildly. You won't know until you settle in. I'm lucky and have a great manager/team. Many people have awful toxic teams. It's just luck of the draw - hopefully, you interviewed the hiring manager yourself to get an idea.

Top leadership is just terrible. They're actively sc--wing us while telling us they're doing us a favor.

Good luck!

Day-to-day is dependent on your team and direct leadership. Mine is pretty good but it varies.

Senior leadership leaves a lot to be desired. Consistent trickle layoffs/offshoring, RTO mandates, gaslighting, bad-faith communications, etc.
