Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

I’m sad

I used to be proud to say I worked for U.S. Bank, now I just feel stupid that I wasted so much time working for a company that doesn’t care about their employees. We mean nothing.

You're not alone. Over the course of the last year the general environment and moral has nose-dived due to the less than caring attitude by upper management and their b-sniffing k-s-as-es. How to get ahead there now, be a good little peon, follow the new procedures no matter how stupid they are and bow to your new department talking heads.

CRE means at least 2 different things: Corporate Real Estate, the group that is implementing the Return to Office, and Commercial Real Estate, the business line that provides credit and services to the Commercial Real Estate industry.

I’ll say this. The people at CRE who are installing this RTO are d-mb puppets. Acting like this matters and is a good change. Spineless bi--hes of CRE unable to speak their mind and stick it to the d-mbasses on top pushing this sh-t. Y’all are just d-mb cause the minute they can they will cut more of you CRE minions.

It is very sad, now you get invited to participate in change however you are only there for show or for how much influence you might have. If you try to contribute, you get dismissed and told that is not the direction... sad

@rqf+1uHjChdH Sc--w off Elfio. It’s people like you that make the culture at this bank so toxic.

Your reaction is valid and you're not stupid. There was a time when the culture of USB was so healthy and strong that it was reasonable to have felt a connection to an organization. RKD had a lot to do with that, but it was also a result of thousands of like-minded, hard-working, highly capable employees giving everything they had and expecting to be rewarded with a modest salary and job security in return. But that social contract has been shredded. The new deal is this: make your boss look good, be agreeable, be polite and positive, don't challenge anything. No member of MC prioritizes the Bank, or customers, or shareholders. It is self-preservation only. I say that with no judgement. It's just the reality as I see it. Stay or go, but just know what the new deal is so you can succeed.

To your comment no one thought the bank was home or family.... you two are just hateful and clearly negative. Why would how she/he feel give you the right to bash her/himself for their thoughts or feelings. Hopefully your rude comments aren't due to you being GUTTED. Maybe your department or location played a role in why this was not your experience. Remember we are all on edge RUDE, CHILDISH, NEGATIVE COMMENTS is not what we need so please do yourself a favor and YOU GET OVER IT.

To the main comment above for you I have worked at this bank for over 13 years and YES when we where in office my group was very family/home oriented. We looked out for one another, had food days, celebrations, things mattered.

@rqf+1uHjChdH - Literally no one mentioned anything about thinking the bank was their home or family. Get over yourself and work on your reading comprehension.

I've started refusing to share where I work when people ask because it's embarrassing and I hate it here. I've been at this company for a long time, and seen it through the crash on '08 and other hardships. It always has a bit of a corporate culture but now it's horrendous. The way this place is treating its employees is absolutely disgusting. Idk what AC thinks is going to happen, but it really feels like the ships is sinking now. I hope the job market improves soon so I have a hope of finding another job outside of this awful place. Even 5 years ago I figured I'd be a lifer. Now? I don't think I see a career future here.

After 30 years and fortunate to survive so many layoff, I don’t have any motivation for this bank because I keep seeing emails every month about someone getting layoff off.

It’s sad to see how the bank will lay off your co worker just so the exec can get their bonus. Performance doesn’t Matter in this bank, do more or do less equal same layoff odds

Don’t get me started about RTO.

Managers either still work remotely or have a nice office while we have to fight for a desk or have to listen to someone on team all day

I basically have the same sentiments. We’re all just a number. Only thing I’m motivated by is a paycheck. No interest in being a flag bearer for this company.

This whole workforce strategy while the bank claims is ‘equitable’ it is not! It is a tactic to reduce their workforce without having to directly layoff employees.
All this is based on the assumption that an employee is financially stable to incur the additional costs of driving to work , emotionally and mentally competent to engage in social interactions, and they own a vehicle. There is no equity here for employees who may not have a car and are being forced to commute over 2hours because they live within a 30 mile radius. The banks answer, file for work accommodation. However that forces an employee to disclose personal health information to their employee when they previously didn’t have to before.
There is one situation where both a manager and employee live within a hub but only the employee is forced to return to office which the bank is inadvertently causing a disparity among protected classes and communities. I really hope the media gets hold of this.

Same. I’m actually at the point where I would consider speaking to media about what’s going on if the opportunity arises because what’s going on isn’t right. I’ve been here forever too and I just about had it with the recent anti employee tactics. Things have gone too far.

Sadly, this is what all of corporate America is like. Remember that we are all cogs in a very large wheel, and for the most part our employment is at Will. Try to balance your life outside work, because God knows that’s a lot more important. Hang in there.

I feel sad today too. I’m a top performer and have brought so much positive change but since I am remote I have been passed on promotions and made to feel like I’ve done nothing. I’ve lost all motivation. Seeing less experienced and less professional people be given promotions is hurtful and disappointing

Exactly why this is so horrible. 10/15/20/25 years mean nothing. The old USB loved long term employees the new USB looks at us like a bad thing. We miss you RKD!!

It’s a sinking Titanic at this point. No one should stay thinking they are safe because no one is. If you work in the wrong state compared to your teams hubs start looking. No one is safe. Top performers or not it doesn’t matter, they only care about money.
