Fake news. Return to office will not change.
Only a few more years until I can work my Technology job and use an extra monitor and have an actual desk and not a little table in a corner! YEAH- counting down the days. I love how "productive" I am in the office trying to write code with just a small size MacBook screen and no additional monitors- it takes me much longer to move things around on my one tiny screen. Just as an FYI, decision makers.
They lost the plot with this RTO. Employees are hating this place. Bad morale, bad vibes and jerks up top.
The most ridiculous part of this is that they have closed some sites and reconstructed existing sites to pack ppl in like sardines.
So, not only do you have the people who were fully embracing remote work and doing a good job being forced to come back in... but you have the people like me who were very comfortable with hybrid or even being in the office nearly full-time also being turned off.
"Pretty much sc--w everyone" seems to be the plan.
It feels like the best we’re going to be able to keep is hybrid at this point. Have to keep those real estate values up for rich people. No consequences for them messing up their investments they get bailed out just like companies do.
Mark your calendar for 4 years from now
2028? So basically enough time for the current "leadership" to be kicked out by another set of buffoons who can claim that RTO wasn't their mandate and revert it.
They ain’t telling back. They have lease and Real Estate tied up. Turning back would admit it was a mistake and all the Real estate expenses were wasted money
Only reason why all these companies are forcing RTO is because of Real Estate
They also promised their friends in the local government that gave them tax break that they will RTO to help the local government
I highly highly doubt that they'll walk back RTO. They've got way too much invested in real estate that they can't offload.
