Distractions at the office

The office is too loud. People talk to their colleagues all day long about non-business related topics. People be mindful of those who need to concentrate to get their work done.

People forgot manners during the pandemic, I think that’s the problem. No one cares about anyone other than themselves. The ones that talk in the office are the ones that get manager attention. Anyone else who actually works, is overlooked because they’re not a problem.

Sorry - I'm the loud talker. The louder everyone is around me, the louder I have to get - it probably is shouting. I love slacking off in the office talking to my buddies. I really do get more done at home. Not even joking. They will probably start tracking how long we are in the bathroom and have reports on that too. My boss makes a dollar, I make a dime, that's why I po-p on company time...

Yup, people parking in drop in rooms all day make it hard to even find a room to do a freaking interview in

It’s very distracting. Some unprofessional people managers I’ve seen bad mouth their reports while clearly audible at their desk. Conference rooms have sh---y audio systems. Computers not dependable. It’s usually too cold. No parking. They took away the snacks and added unnecessary complexity to the lunch order process. I can’t tell if all this is the result of organizational incompetence or an evil scheme to drive attrition by slowly making the office annoying as he-l.

Did I mention the half and half seems to be always be out?

Some people are literally yelling into their headset in open workspaces. If you’re on a call where you need to do any substantial speaking, you need to be in a room. I don’t get the impulse to speak so loudly on calls. If I’m taking a call at my desk i practically whisper.

Then there are the jerks who grab one of those rooms and leave their stuff in it for the entire day like it’s their office. That makes it harder for people who need a room to find one for their call.

Harder to find quiet spots these days.
And what about the people coming in sick because they fear the RTO police.

My main beef is with people who feel the need to talk so loudly while on the phone. It’s annoying asf and I can’t seem to not have a day when I’m sitting around someone like that.

Especially when the topics are about getting arrested over the weekend etc. It’s not work appropriate and too distracting
