Thread regarding ViacomCBS layoffs

Class Action Lawsuit

I’ll keep this brief. It seems there was a recurring pattern in how layoffs were decided, and it wasn’t JUST based on total compensation and we know performance wasn’t a huge deciding factor. From what I’ve observed, many of those affected didn’t have kids or families when compared to their counterparts who did, on who to slash from their deciding managers.

If anyone is interested in joining a class action lawsuit for additional compensation regarding the layoffs, please let me know. I’m meeting with a prominent attorney to assess whether we have a strong case and would love to see if there’s enough interest to move forward.

Um, anybody who signed the severance agreement waived their right to sue . There were plenty of warnings here NOT to Sign. Anybody out there refuse to sign the papers?

This isn’t true. I know many who had kids and were let go. These things are terrible, but you are wasting your money on lawyers.

if many were over the age of 40 you have a case, even if half are age 40. its a clear Demo they are targeting

There is no possible way you have enough data points to make this determination. The people I know of directly that were let go ALL had families and kids. All of them.

So you are just blatantly wrong.

I understand you feeling anger toward this. I'm still feeling it myself. This company is garbage and I am still going to continue looking for work elsewhere, but this is absolutely reaching and will almost certainly crash and burn in a court of law.

Obviously, you can file whatever lawsuit you feel you need to, but just know that when it comes time for any sort of discovery, you're going to come out the other side very disappointed and with new wounds that could have just been healing while you move on to another, better job.

How would you have such information??? as to whether people have children or not????? you wouldn't know..... don't make assumptions . anywho, in your general area you may have an idea of who has children but you don't know how many in the overall layoff number have children,,,, you don't know how many are minorities overal... you don't know how many are lgbtq overall, you would'nt know how many are veterans.... you really don't know anything.

there's no such discrimination suit against people who don't have kids, a PROMINANT Atty wouldn't meet you for that. race age gender and other such status are the only protected ones. start looking for a class action because of retaliation is your only bet. laying off complainers who threatened to take action or did take action internally and/or externally. internally whether telling a boss OR using the company conduct complaint site etc. also keep taking tabs on who gets laid off because down the road (within a year you may have to file a complaint) you may see that the company didn't hold it's end of what they told you OR what you both agreed on when you signed severance. typically the company should've offered buyouts and typically those actually interested in taking the buyouts Wait Until all the layoffs - then ask for the buyout (which the company agrees & rewards them with a layoff pkg which allows them to collect unemployment). it's a devious scheme between unions & company and you'll be the last to find out (unless you keep tabs). The company will allow & enjoy giving the post-layoff Buyout people because BOTH parties know the company will always encourage shedding of jobs

I know plenty of people who were let go who have families (including children)..so this does not seem to be a factor.
