Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Transformation

That meeting was like a symphony of words about nothing, with no clear melody—just a whole lot of talking in circles, leaving everyone confused about what we actually discussed!

They only want to automate the work that “nobody wants to do”.

That’s the same BS we heard about jobs like landscaping, roofing, painting, etc. Now all those jobs are done by illegals and all our jobs will be done by Spark.

With HRH Silverspoon and finance Freddy are leading this show, there will be no sequel.

You can't ask pretentious pretty boys to tell the truth. The only way we're hitting 1B savings/revenue is by overestimating benefit and willful ignorance on cost. In his day, Galina knew that and adjusted every year. Now, we're placing all our trust in two guys who probably pay people to wipe their arses. Cause that's how we improve the health of humanity. Or, I guess, 1% of the humanity.

Is there an exec training program for how to overcome your inner elitist, if so, please send help.

Did anyone else notice that as soon as the transformation and it's unqualified leadership started getting trashed, there was reminder about social media posts. Maybe someone's feelings got hurt because no one has ever told them that they're nothing more than robots in dry clean only clothing.

But, dude, like lots of really cool words were used. I'm sure they have narley ways of measuring all of the great savings and revenue that will result. There's no way the board and leadership would be so easily distracted with an empty ted talk, right?

Keep a watch for the bump the CEO receives from all of this. The reported total 2023 compensation was $21,889,039. https://aflcio.org/paywatch/highest-paid-ceos Compensation growth for CEOs since 2020 -https://www.fiercehealthcare.com/payers/unitedhealth-ceo-andrew-witty-was-2023s-highest-paid-payer-ceo-heres-what-his-peers-earned

There is always someone who likes to make it political and not about corporate greed and two out of touch guys who held a 15 minute meeting with the whole company to talk about a plan to eliminate our workflows and disguise it as “transformation” as if we all weren’t smart enough to figure it out.

Ivory Tower: Can you meet with the common folk and ease their fears of impeding layoffs?
Delegates: Of course!!! (Whisper: 15 mins max)
Common Folk: Are you taking our jobs with AI?
Delegates: We are just getting rid of the portion of your job that we think nobody really could possibly want to do. Think of it as a favor.
Ivory Tower: How did it go?
Delegates: 🎣

It's called transformation, AGAIN, because it's exactly the same as we had before. Just more "rigor" upfront which is two guys deciding all the work in a vacuum. They don't even know what all the company functions are.

Here's the transparency.

  1. Every 2 years or so, we have to convince the board how innovative we are.
  2. But we're not. So, we introduce fancy transformation departments and add in process and bureaucracy every time. The strategy just rotates through different consulting firms charging us hundreds an hour.
  3. We decided to insource consulting. Great, but they are NO more knowledgeable about the business than external consultants and even more useless which is bewildering.

4 Now they brought out people who look hipper/younger/techier than Gloria to try and sell the same thing because those jerks look better to the board. And they know they look like a--holes to the rest of us but...

  1. We will always prioritize stock price over logic so here we are.

If being transparent means more confusion then I guess they succeeded!

I had a little different spin on this. To me, this was we are saying we’re gonna be transparent so that you will be transparent with the teams that will be approaching you guys to automate workflows.

What a waste. Didn't go into any "real" detail of what this so-called transformation would entail for the associates that are actually performing the work.

How many transformations does this company need to go through before they actually accomplish something meaningful?

They can't come put and say layoffs. This is the beginning of the transparency.

The transformation is AI doing most stuff, employees will be getting laid off.

WTAF was that. They said they wanted to explain transformation in plain English, and then proceeded to do exactly the opposite!

Jeff Klebanoff saying that AI will make more time for people to spend with their families is basically saying layoffs
