I was recently RIF'd and I can tell you that all the BS from "Human" Resources is empty! They tell you how they're there for you and just reach out to them. But they don't care about you in the least! Every time I try to get a hold of them to clarify or confirm something in my severance pack, they tell me to just read the material. They don't give a s__t about anyone! The entire Marketing leadership team are mo--ns who are leading that department right into a hole. They have made some of the WORST decisions I have ever seen in my career. If their goal is to ruin this company - congratulations, they're well on their way! Worst treatment of people I have EVER seen!

Yep “position eliminated” protects them from a retaliation lawsuit. One of the bcbs companies did that to me. A VP, who eventually got canned due to a new CEO, was notorious for retaliation. If someone was pretty high up, she would force them to resign. That company’s office politics were so corrupt.
HR - I can tell you how naive I was early in my corporate career. I worked for a company and the team lead was using homophobic slurs, name calling and just out right rude. He was setting me up to fail so, to protect myself, I went to HR. Sure, they seemed to listen, at the first meeting. The second meeting a few weeks later, like narcissists, they turned it around - 'you're not really happy here, are you?' - and things like that. About a month later my position was eliminated. They didn't have cause to fire me, so that's how they get around removing you. So, word to the wise - HR works for THE COMPANY.
Why is anyone suprised by the actions of this company. They have one mission to increase the stock price. They do not care about you, so you should not give a cr-p abou them. Take their money and find a new job.
I heard our HR resources have been outsourced for the most part, so we are not dealing with Anthem/EH full time employees in HR. That is why they don't give a cr*p!
Also recognize there are federal laws that govern severance for employees under 40 years old vs over 40. If you are over 40 you have a long period of time to review the documents and a week to retract what you have signed. Please do your own research and I think asking for legal advice is a good idea too.
Hire a lawyer. Most are contingent. So don’t worry about paying up front. Always have lawyer review your severance documents before committing.
HR support when you're an associate is pretty bad. I can only imagine it's worse when you're no longer an associate.
Wait…did you actually talk to someone from HR and they told you to read the materials, or was it via email? I’ve been trying to have a real conversation with an HR person and it seems that’s no longer possible.
When did u get riffed?
