Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

If there is a big layoff round in October

I sure hope I am lucky enough to be booted. I know there are many folks who can’t afford to lose their jobs now, and I keep my fingers crossed for them. As far as I’m concerned, I can’t wait to see Cigna in the rear view mirror, disappearing fast. Advice from the long-timer: don’t stay here long unless you absolutely must.

These upcoming layoffs are they enterprise wide or focusing on specific business units like MA, commercial, Evernorth etc?

Fact: There WILL be layoffs in Oct, Nov and Jan that are NOT HIH related. You can take that to the bank. It’s not over and will get worse before it’s better. Rinse and repeat of last year at this time. Maybe worse.

Whats the intention of the October Layoffs? Is it mostly consultants who will be let go to replace them with HIH workers?

It’s too late to volunteer for October. The list was made weeks ago.

"Leaving Cigna was the best thing that's ever happened to me! I don't even care. Best thing that ever happened to me."

But here you are prowling their layoff forum 6 months later on a Friday night. Yeah, I'm sure you've never looked back lol. Gold medal in mental gymnastics.

I told my manager late last year. I was on the list earlier this year. They didn’t like that I asked questions and/or made recommendations. I was definitely a long timer (25+ years). Best thing to happen was seeing Cigna in the rear view. I didn’t realize how miserable I was until I was out! Save yourselves!

Wise words, I would extend that to any company, in most cases I feel it's likely better to avoid staying in one place for too long. There are the exceptional stories of people working their way up to C level over time, but that is obviously not the norm. Move on, keep things fresh, learn new skills, keep it interesting at least. I thought Cigna truly was one of the good ones, but they are just like the others, in a way worse, they had us fooled for a while there, then pulled the rug.

Contact the HR person you worked with when hired. Tell them then email them a synopsis of the conversation with your mgr copied.

I’ve seen the same message posted on several threads to tell your manager and or HR about wanting to volunteer for a layoff list. I’m wondering how this actually works since I have asked my management, but I don’t think it is being communicated to anyone else higher up.

Tell your mgr and/or HR that you would like to be on the layoff waiting list.
