Thread regarding TIAA (TIAA-CREF) layoffs

Writing has been on the wall for a while

After offloading people to Accenture, there will be more layoffs coming. More importantly, there will be many new subtle ways to make you quit. I know it’s hard for long-time employees to accept it, but TIAA is no longer that company they started working for years ago. It’s just another run-of-the-mill company that will sacrifice each and every one of its employees in a second if it would help its bottom line. I can also bet you Accenture advised them to do so. Once rando consultancy is one foot in the door, you can expect company culture to go to sh----r.

This is all 100% bullsh-t. Working at TIAA su-ks. Great pay, terrible managers, chaotic approach to just about everything. It's a sh-t show. Stay and make $$ until they send you packing with a severance. TIAA could not care less about you.

How many folks did TIAA have pre T vs present day? The Bank being sold was a few hundred employees. A lot of turnover as well

Heard it from HR. There will be layoffs next year. And in 2026. And in 2027. And in 2028.

Also saw that there will be hiring next year. And in 2027. And in 2028.

So unless you know something specific about which area and how many people, this is a useless post.

Love these posts with no info to back it up. There are always the chance for more layoffs. What are these subtle ways, what’s this inside info you don’t actually have?

I can post vague stuff too doesn’t make any of it actually true.

I’d like a tenured associate to explain to me why someone that has a critical viewpoint of TIAA is considered “disgruntled”. The OP didn’t say they were miserable - just stating their opinion on the current state of the company.

Sooner or later EVERYONE needs to realize that TIAA (or any company) is a profit center and executive leadership is paid to maintain and grow those profits. Sure, TIAA has some better benefits than others, but it will ALWAYS choose to use money to grow its client base/continue to pay more than the guarantee even if it means cutting associate benefits/pay or laying people off.

People here need to get their head out of the sand. Do your job, get your check, and recognize life is more than where you work. TIAA ( or any company you work for) is nothing more than a means to an end.
