Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

Cigna MA Business a Mess

I heard Cigna Medicare Advantage business is a mess and recent CMS audit ended in Corrective Action Plan. Their Special Needs Program (SNP) had terrible results and major system failure. I’m confused why HCSC is still acquiring them or if this could affect the sale closing. Has anyone heard about this?

The Chicago building is not being sold but the company is leasing out extra space to other companies. Do not make up lies. Many of you get to work hybrid so there’s more unused work space.

They are canning experienced employees and bringing in cheaper younger employees. I suspect after they sell the Chicago tower, that the remaining jobs are moving to Texas. Payroll is there and HR is there. Everyone in Chicago is scared they will be canned soon.

Can’t say enough of HCSC’s leadership as an organization, but even more specifically the Medicare division.

Recognizes the unique circumstances of each state and trusts the people on the ground to provide constructive feedback.

Just come with solutions not complaints and understand that not everything happens overnight in an organization this big.

I do admit our (Cigna) SNP does need some improvement, but it's far from a complete mess. What is upsetting to me on a personal level is me and several colleagues have known of our main SNP issues for years. We've pitched several ideas on how we can improve our SNP pain points and leadership would never listen. They always preferred to hire consultants or process improvement engineers to come in and make changes. Recently we finally started getting traction from leadership actually listening and implementing some of our ideas. However with the sale to HCSC, I am sure they will throw it out the window and do things their own way. Hopefully, HCSC leaders fully understand these new SNP States/markets they are entering. It's far different the mid-west state SNP plans they currently have.

Because it’s instant growth. The company acquires a lot of more members. Then they focus on fixing what’s broken.

i'm assuming the goal is to turn around any issues and focus on long-term profitability. i would be very surprised if this affected the acquisition.

Audit results came in and we scored better than our last audit. However, Cigna as a company is a mess... but for other reasons. The last several years we had revolving door of poor leadership, layoffs, hiring freeze, and lots of attrition. Some Cigna MA employees are trying to jump ship before being sold off to HCSC, while others are riding it out to see if it's any better than what Cigna is now.
