I would
- Bring back the Fusion or Taurus or something similar.
- Bring back a 7 seater family vehicle.
- Make them fuel economical with an Ecoboost engine.
- Have a Hybrid option available for the both.
Watch them sell.
I would
Watch them sell.
Where's the "just wait, you'll see" model e cheerleader? They've been conspicuously quiet this week.
No worries! With all the new model E plants coming on line soon, we won't need to worry about internal combustion engine failures. We will be the next Tesla!......oh wait, ooops.....cancel those plants...charge off $400 million.......... just read the latest earnings report. Nothing to see here, just move along....
My father is a mechanic for over 32 years now and we often talk about his impressions and discuss the issues that he encounters in his day-to-day repairs and some of the biggest d-mbfound moments come from Ford Engineering and we cant help but wonder why they did what they did with the engine designs. Timing belts that swim in oil, crankshaft pulleys that have no keys, and various other far-from-genius ideas that exist on these powertrains and probably some of the reasons why they fail in such spectacular ways. When we talk about Toyotas and Hondas there is not much to be said about the basic don't fix it if its not broken engineering mentality. Lets not go to VW as they do some odd things there too.
@1ixr+1u8wNgpT they should have fixed the problems with the Taurus. I had one for over 10 years. It was a great car, very comfortable and fun to drive.
It was the best selling car for many years in the 80s and 90s ahead of the Camry and Accord. The Camry and Accord are still there in 2023. Why did we have to change?
If I were CEO I would bust the unions and provide a product average America can afford. Unions are the problem
Unfortunately, a lot of people still have a bad taste when the Taurus had the highest recalls and programs. My dad used to be a loyal Ford person until he had a Taurus. When the engine mounts broke after the program expired, and customer service wouldn't reimburse him, he ditched the Taurus for a Toyota.
@1wvg: Too many EcoBoost engines won't even make it to the 10-year mark. One of my neighbors just got a new 2.0-liter long block in her Edge, with 80k on the clock, on Ford's nickel. I told her that Edge was an acronym for Engine Dies at Great Expense.
All good, but question the Ecoboost. I hear that turbo engines run into problems after 10 year?
That makes sense and would probably work. That's why you could NEVER be CEO.
