Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

I got lucky

Being laid off was a gift to my mental health. If you're still at Cigna, trust me when I tell you that layoffs are nothing to be afraid of. It's hard to land at a place with a more toxic culture and work environment. My new job helped me see that the way I was treated before was wrong in so many ways I can't even count them. My advice to everybody is to leave. You'll be so much happier.

I’m happy you escaped and found a new role with a company who actually treats you like a human being.

My manager indicated recently that “we will not be impacted by layoffs,” as contact center EBH representatives. I was legitimately devastated by that announcement. I cannot handle this job anymore. Ironically, helping people with their own mental health struggles is destroying my own. It’s near impossible to get a call back with all job apps I’ve been submitting. I will do anything at this point to leave. I’m praying I get let go but I know that won’t happen unless I do something really stupid to get myself fired.

Not sure what to do anymore. The entire course of my career with EBH has been the darkest period of my life. This place su-ks!

FOW is the cute little acronym for the return-to-office mandate.

What is FOW?

I'm in IT as well. The pay recruiters have been quoting me lately has been substantially less than two years ago - but I'm underpaid enough that, even at $20k lower rates, I'd still be taking a decent raise leaving Cigna. The biggest issue is that full remote is harder to find.

Happy for you! I’ve been job searching for almost a year since FOW started, but IT jobs that either pay the same and are remote, or pay more but are also hybrid, are scarce. Plus it is tough to find the time when I’m working full time with kids and a house and everything. All I know is Cigna is a mess but either I’ll get laid off or find something eventually.
