You are toast but so is everyone else. You may just go first.

Cyber and Risk Management are full of IT rejects who couldn’t hack it in other areas. Cyber has been the only area adding headcount and been forced to take leftovers cast off from platform and BU teams rather than hire quality external candidates.
So is cyber all safe from layoffs?
Geoscientists had a good run in the industry, becoming "important" about 50-60 years ago, and now that importance is starting to fade. You can already see in Permian you don't need geoscientists when you have AI and machine learning. As for Exploration, LS and her gang have been coming up empty for a decade now.
Wait till you get Indian SMEs, there will be a whole bunch of talk, discussions, meeting and presentations with very little output. I am can't wait to participate in one of these engagements and enjoy the fun :)
Lol @1egx+1u8iONJJ comprehension skills are at an all time low for Chevron Petrotechs. Did you not hear ES and BK tell you India is you're daddy now?
IT isn't the focus
There’s plenty that can be streamlined in IT. The problem is that even in the US we don’t have good enough engineers.
For every good SE at Chevron there’s 4 mediocre to below average SEs. Instead of paying for 2 good SEs at market rates who would get the work done faster and better, we carry 6-7 mediocre SE and pay a lot more for less quality. Our IT leaders have failed the function and the company over and over for at least a decade.
At least in India it’ll be cheaper low quality. even lower than it is now.
@sus+1u,
It’s offshoring…that’s a win-win for shareholders. If they also manage to reduce overall headcount, well that’s all gravy.
I don’t know of any IT function that exists that can be streamlined. I thought we did that with ACN already. Care to name any?
