Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Any updates about Sept layoffs?

Too many rumors going around to be about nothing. And even if there were no rumors, it’s reasonable to expect there will be bloodbath soon. Most big companies are in a cost-cutting frenzy, falling for AI hype and/or planning more offshoring. They look in every existing direction which would give leadership and shareholders a bigger piece of pie. It’s as simple as that.

Any more MA layoffs? The last layoffs were mainly in Commercial, Evernorth, and Express scripts, but not Medicare. Seems like MA hasn't laid off staff in several month, also many people are voluntarily leaving MA with the upcoming sale to HCSC. Seems like MA has been insulated from layoffs, but I am not sure.

What Cigna seems to be clueless about is offshoring is not as effective and advantageous as they claim. To add to that, tax policy changes in 2025. Plan for US multinational companies to align more closely with their international counterparts. Looking forward to some retirement announcements…
