Do they not realize that morale sinks after good employees are laid off? The remaining good people do not feel safe anymore and head for the hills the first chance they get. If this lasts long enough, the company could find itself in real trouble regarding its workforce.

Not to be a downer, but AI is much larger reason for the layoffs then they are letting on. At some point in the near future, most of the jobs in the company will be done via AI with very few humans needed.
I am just doing my job and waiting for the day I get the news that my position has been riffed.
This is happening at most companies. It is going to lead to economic collapse and almost certainly UBI and digital currency over the next decade. No way to stop it. AI will transform society. And not for the better, I fear.
Heads they win. Tails you lose. It doesn’t matter because they already have won. This isn’t a family owned business. They don’t care about the long-term health or reputation of it. Their goal is to cash out with as much as possible. Gail has already started the process of selling off her stock in batches. That said, you should do the same and cash out at the best time for yourself.
They don't care about morale. They care about the EPS and pleasing the shareholders. To SLT, the associates and member satisfaction are low on the totem pole.
Leadership is only concerned about profit today. They leave future problems for future leadership.
Sorry OP, no. We’re all replaceable and the SLT knows that. Get what you can out of the place, do the best job you can, then move on when you’re ready.
