After working for Carelon for over 18 years, nothing has changed with the very cruel ways lay-offs are handled. Everthing is hush, hush, and you can't even say your good-byes to your co-workers who lose their jobs, unless they tell you. Here today, gone tomorrow with no way to thank them or have closure. I foresaw what was coming last October and requested to be one of those to be laid wad off. As my manager was a total id--t and didn't care for me, she gladly did it. Little did she realize she did me a HUGE favor, 6 months severane and unemployment. BUT, since I had reached my full retirement age, I didn't suffer like so many have, and to those that have I am so, so sorry. I also have tremendous grief for those of you who are still working for this evil company while living in daily fear of getting riffed. Good luck to you all and I hope you can find better jobs in the near future!

Why can't there be a list for associates to indicate they're willing to be rifed or take early retirement. Then if someone needs to be rifed on that team or org, you don't need to look any farther.

Exactly my feelings. I don't want it. I can't afford it, but I'm so stressed out so often over this place constantly. Next week will be moderate stress. The following nonpay week, nightmare. I wonder what productivity shows on pay weeks vs not. Which is really, no risk rif week vs rif week now. My guess is rif week, especially wed and thurs are low production, mass hysteria in most parts of the org. I don't understand how anyone making these decisions thinks this is how to effectively run a business.

Don't pick me please!!! I don't want to be laid off. Each day is a new day and with that, work stress is still less stressful than looking for work!

Not looking to get riffed but can tell my manager is looking for anything she can find to rank people she doesn't like (those who do not s_ck up and protect her) with a Needs Improvement ranking in the 2024 performance reviews.

I was hoping to get RIFed and it happened. If you click your heels together and say RIF me, RIF me, RIF me. You will get RIFed. We aint in Indianapolis anymore!

I don't hope to be laid off!! Being unemployed is more stressful than work stress. My job is very very stressful. but not having this would be way much worse.

Yes! At least we'd get a mental break while focusing on job searching and getting unemployment.

I would be very careful what you wish for. The market is very dangerous right now.

I dread logging in every day. While I don’t want to be without a job, sometimes I hope for the sweet relief of being free from this hellscape.

If you want out, make it known. You will get what you want.
