The 8/8 layoff was for managers to get rid of employees they did not want. The next RIF will be to further reduce head count. Sadly, RIFs will never end at this company.

Here's thing. Every other Thursday. It's so common at this point that I'm past anxiety. Maybe it's just accepting that you have no control over your fate or career at this company. They want utility players. A call is a call. A claim is a claim. We're trying to simplify things so that all knowledge is general. Everyone is a generalist. Great in theory. Doesn't work at a company he-l bent on destroying itself top-down because SLT all want their own private sandbox while lecturing everyone about silos and collaboration. We need to spend our time helping our colleagues. The organization doesn't care about us. But we do care about each other....most of us. It's not to say that if a RIF comes it wouldn't be traumatic but we absolutely cannot function as people in a constant state of anxiety. This place isn't worth it. Prepare like you'll be rifed - resume, networking etc. Work for yourself, colleagues and members. All of the bad SLT decisions will come to roost. They may have golden parachuted out but if we focus or worry about that, we'll drive ourselves insane. Nothing we can do about it. Do whatever you can to not go crazy. That probably means realizing you have zero control over your RIF potential. So all that worry makes zero difference. And I'm not cheerleading for this place. I've seen too much to tell anybody they should love it here or trust the leaders. I'm saying make work about each other so we can all make it as long as they allow us to.
