Competitive shouldn't equal backstabbing

What's with so many Chevron employees who think that to be competitive you also have to be a backstabber? I understand you want to get ahead, but you can also do it through hard work instead of stepping on people in an effort to speed up the process. I swear, it's worse here than I've seen it at any other place I worked.

Thank you feedback culture. Your performance is now largely dependent on others who have no idea what your job is or how to do it, yet they get to comment on how good or bad you are doing. What makes it even worse is it seems some groups/teams/divisions comments are factored in more than others. And dont put it past anyone, if they are close to someone who is your peer and they know if they are negative on you, it only helps the person they are close to. So practice that kneeling and learn to kiss everyones behind.

Well you used to have to compete with the same PSGs within 2 levels of management for bonuses. Now, your manager gets money to spread within the team. So you are directly competing with your own team for CIP and LTIP which isn't going to encourage the best behaviors.
