Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

What would you do if you knew you’re getting LR’ed?

My skip level dropped clear hints that I’m on the list and has asked me to give a TOI to the team for my current project. Request came out of the blue on day before earnings call (when the LR news had already been leaked, so I think management already knew and had been asked to prepare a list beforehand). Plenty of work I’m also still expected to deliver on. What would you do if you were in my shoes? Serious answers only please.

Start looking for another job. There's nothing else you can do - if you're on the list, you're on the list. Even if you weren't on the list I'd advise you to keep looking because it's not healthy to have the axe over you constantly.

If you have some toxic stakeholders, LR is reason to celebrate finally able to leave this sh-t situation and the income sacrifice all cisco folks make the moment u stay more than 5 yrs.

Are you worried about burning a bridge? If not, I wouldn’t do anything. You will still get your severance no matter what. If you are worried about burning a bridge, su-k it up and do what you gotta do.

For me cisco reneged on their agreement to remove restrictive covenants made during a legal meeting and insisted on vetting any job application I made. They stated even though it was promised there was no obligation to agree to it once the contract was terminated. Fortunately I made sure the meeting was witnessed and documented. Therefore if Cisco reneged on the promise the consultation was meaningless and unfair.

Clarify your legal position make sure there are no restrictions on any role you may apply for.

Make sure references are agreed.

To be honest Cisco are the most dishonest company I have ever come across.

I understand you maybe concerned about your workload and colleague's and they as individuals will care about you, but make no mistake Cisco do not care. You are a number.

Sorry to hear that. Reality is that with bonus cpf at 0.61, we’ve all been cheated whether LR’ed or not. Plus with them holding the axe over our heads for a month, expecting business as usual is a clear sign this company is going to the dumpsters. All this to say, we are all in the same boat and productivity, quality, deliverables will all suffer. So you will not be alone in checking out of day to day work.
