Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Beat call - Stay focused

Ask your tough questions.

Don’t fall for this distraction that is this unlimited PTO - it’s the new reality of corporate America.

Ask for them to be transparent.

  • How (annd who) are they going to hold themselves accountable for this multi year performance fiasco.
  • ask for specifics on strategy and why and when this will be effective, they get paid millions not tell us that ChatGPT will answer my effing questions.
  • We get held accountable every year - need f regular updates to ensure they are doing their jobs well. Clearly the bosses (board) they’ve hired is sh-t or bought out because they don’t hold the CEO accountable enough.
  • we need to know what this 0.61 cpf means for their remuneration. Mind you Not salary. Employees are shareholders too - double whammy for us.
  • remember the sheep are going to run to the ohh no my pto questions. Stay focused.

Contribute your own questions - the more pluses the more times the question should be asked. Let’s not be sheeple - 10 years and still perpetually lagging

we deserve more competent leadership at such an important corporation

The chat is not Twitch, Twitter, or Youtube. Be civil and don't post antagonizing remarks unless you want an early exit. Tensions are high, keep a level head

Cant wait for all the "Cisco is the best" and what a great family we are comments..even if you asked a tough question its not guaranteed to make it on the Q&A or be answered...they are screened. I speak from experience. Honesty should be the best policy but the fear of reprisal inhibits people from saying what they really feel or want to ask...the Beat is more of a Beating of the Cisco drum than an actual frank exchange with employees.

Whatever happens, we need whoever did the last summary to summarize this one also.

I got many laughs out of it.

FK is going to run her trap for 55/60 minutes dedicated for the call then answer 1-2 prearranged questions then end it before going back to chewing on chucks beef stick. Happens every time.

CSCO employees are too scared and won't do anything but continue to get treated like garbage. Want to send a strong message to leadership, then don't show up to GSX or join the Beat on Monday. Flood the mental health help line, take PTO, leave, whatever. They're already going to tank in Q1 because 99% of the employees are not working until after the 16th. Might as well speed that up so they can fire Chuckie and the rest of these incompetent fools running the company. How fast do you think the board would act when no one shows up to Vegas or the Beat? Chuckles won't make it to Q1

If you are within 5 yrs of your target retirement date, buckle down, do your best to be indispensible & hope for the best. If not, make finding another job & company a top priority. FIre yourself before it's done for you. Nobody is safe; you're working at an old tech company that has been struggling for years. With your time or money - Cisco is a trade, not an investment.

I don't give a s...it on what they say in any of these calls
I just make sure I work the minimum needed not to get fired and that is it.
When they hired me they made a low ball offer. I accepted. Low profile position although I could do a lot more. In real terms I never worked for them more than 50%.
A low profile position also kept me under the radar for a couple of good LR cycles.
Although I am getting the same money as with my previous employer, I work less.
They keep using for ideas to do this or to improve that. Although I have them I never say anything.

They get what they pay and I don't care what they say (or do)
They want to let me go? Fine, I have already made a good profit all these years, the severance package is going to be a good bye bonus.

Ask useful and positive questions about strategy moving forward. Focus on what role you want and how to achieve success.

obviously it will feel tricky to ask tough questions at this time - do think them through.

Heck use ChatGPT to frame them better.
