Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Layoff or Safe

COP employees seem pretty “relaxed” about the acquisition and aren’t concern about layoffs happening.

I know MRO will take the brunt of the reduction but will COP also get hit as well? If so, will it likely be at the end of this year or beginning of Q1?

MRO culture of fewer employees doing more work has opened the eyes of executives. They believe they can trim the fat and combine positions giving each employee more than one job. MRO laid-off all of the floaters or employees that couldn’t handle juggling the work. They never replaced people just moved the work to whoever was left. If you can’t multitask you are out!

At least all of the nxtGeb people have been promised good jobs and aren’t going to get laid off. If they don’t do an EOI there will be layoffs in early 2025 guaranteed!

Senior management has been clear every time there’s been a layoff that there won’t be a layoff.
If you believe that, you’ve completely overdosed on the koolade. Sit back and enjoy your oblivious days.

This company is poison for your soul. Think of yourself like a wh--e: the short-term payoff is safety, and feels like an investment, but the long-term treatment (“leadership”) will destroy you. Leave. I did, and the grass is greener.

Senior COP Management was very clear that this merger was not going to lay off any COP employees. However, the NextGen project will be completed in Q1 2025. I could see EOIs mid-2025 due to NextGen. If the price of WTI drops, then layoffs will be coming.

This place needs more managers, less workers.
It’s a recipe for success.

Could be a small one end of this year and a much more significant event (>500) next spring. That’s been a popular trend in the past.

The process will mirror the past. These events are opportunities to take care of underperforming individuals that management is too incompetent and weak to address in the normal course of the business. And then it also serves management’s real purpose of eliminating threats and nonconformists.
