Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Elevance vaguely hints at their reasons for restructuring.

"We are at a pivotal, dynamic time for our industry and company, with increased pressures rapidly evolving regulation, questions about the use and application of emerging technologies, rising medical and pharmaceutical costs, reduced government funding, decreases in the number of members we serving, and heightened consumer demands. To continue to meet our stakeholder obligations to be more innovative and affordable, we must evolve, being even more thoughtful and disciplined with our financial commitments and expenses."

What are your thoughts?

The pivotal time we're at is corporate greed. And unfortunately corporate greed that is supposedly improving the health of humanity. The humanity being the SLT and shareholders. Gail never meant the rest of us. I honestly believed when she first said it. Seeing this downfall of a once, actually, great place to work has been so disappointing.

Omg did you transcribe the CAO all associate meeting lol I’m reading it thinking it sounded familiar and then realized why CTFU the writing is on the wall people. Executives have gotten their boosts in wealth from the various acquisitions and the rebranding, but the result is a company more fractured and siloed than ever before, and it’s going to start falling apart. Hang on tight.

I would never buy into managed care. Are you kidding me? An insurance company managing my Medicare benefits, no thanks! I’ll stick with traditional Medicare & a supplement. The problem is that insurance companies interpret guidelines however they see fit & have untrained staff doing reviews. The managers don’t care, they are told over & over that their staff don’t know how to do the work & they do not care. Talk about willful intent to do wrong. This company should be fined by CMS. It’s a complete sh*t show.

“business model is unsustainable” - it’s sustainable, even profitable. But it’s not going to help the top 2% make it into the top 1% club.

What OPs post means is. This business model is unsustainable and It's time to start looking at other industries with growth potential. This hole is fished out!

OP is this a real company communication? It reads like the communication team has been replaced by AI, we just need an accompanying photo of a person with 6 fingers or an extra hand.

What about all of the companies EH gobbled up in the past four years? Are we losing our shirts on those too? Executives should have held onto that money for these rainy days!!!

The answer is always greed. Our CEO just cashed out for 17M in less than a month ago by selling stock. It's always greed.
