Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

What kind of company are we now??

We have been on this transformation journey for 8 years now: We now have 3 different companies operating independantly (but as one C suite said I'm supposed to say). Last I knew we were transformed to an IT Services company (heard it many times from C) and then I just heard via a TV interview that we are a Layer 1 Networking company?

Lumen is a carrier company, looking to be sold off. It's that simple. All other things Lumen is doing will be sold or sunset soon. Why? Because it cannot do anything really good, except light fiber.

"Are we finally done with dare to lead? Did it help the business at all? "

Weve heard nothing about it since the session ended. Things you dont use, just go away in time.
In the end, it was just a handout to her buddy Brene.
But hey, strong women in business need to support each other right?

Doesnt Gamestop have like 2 Billion dollars or so cash in the bank, with no debt?
Cash gives you freedom to do a lot.

Lumen has 20 Billion dollars in debt. We are owned.

Dude. We’re GameStop 2.0.

Inept leaders, stock hyped on buzzwords, rube investors, and day to day in the trenches is he-l.

You mean that upper management acknowledging the no merit increase issue sadly and empatheticaly on town halls while also saying its a tough time at Lumen so raises wont happen this year, isnt good enough for you?

Dont be an ingrate. We have to stick it out! When the transformation is complete, then MAYBE theyll give us a measly 1.2% raise for our reward.

Still remains a company that hasn’t given many employees a raise in nearly 8 years. I guess saving to pay all the new VP’s with parachutes if they don’t pan out.

Weve always been a networking company, no? Its just that the C suite always wants to be something different because telecom is a dirty legacy word. Now weve just shined up the old penny with some AI fairy dust, like bringing back vinyl records and marketing them as something new and better than anything out now.

So what have we been on this journey to the next AI hotness:
A Ma Bell phone company
A hosting / datacenter company - Remember Savvis/Qwest?
A cloud company - Symphony/CLC?
A micro-datacenter company - Because speed to the cloud was the next hottest thing!
A tech company - 4th industrial revolution! APIs! Push button everything!
Now an AI company - Oooooooo!! We've finally found our calling. Maybe they can give out raises with all the free cash flow profit we have now.

The C suite just spins the wheel and picks something they think is going to stick.
Kate literally said not to say telecom when she took over. Now shes on the knob because she finally realized thats what has made this company money since Clarke M. Williams was running things. And she called up her buddies at Microsoft to get the ball rolling. Kinda easy to hit a home run when you're starting from 3rd base.
