Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

What are they cooking?

There was no conclusive decision in townhall other than accountability and simplification and focus on execution, but what are they cooking for the employees? Someone please spill the beans, there is something being planned behind the door in SR.

@1icz+1u - I guess paychecks land that day?

You think the cooks are preparing something more extra tasty for us that day?

Your don't need "AI Talent". You need experts that can discern BS from legitimate output.

If we move to India, it will be another late and futile move, like that data center that we built just before everyone moved to the cloud. The whole point of AI is to do more with less, cheap labor isn't part of the equation anymore.

A global center in India is inevitable whether now or in future. Only China and India has huge supply of technical talent in AI. India will be a preferred choice as most of our MSP vendors are based out of India. Innovation work cannot be outsourced to MSP and hence no other option but to open a Chevron center and move all the jobs there. This su-ks but a harsh reality. US Government need to stop this mass outsourcing of high skilled jobs...

How many people read MN’s announcement by MW on replacing NH? Upstream experience? Not! International experience? Not? How’s his CES scores and what do folks think about his style of directing tasks? Directing tasks is the anppr way to state this as obviously he’s not a manager or leader. Just wondering how people view this shift?

To those asking ‘what’s cooking?’, if you are so clueless as to the 2025 ROM next summer, your name is probably already on the list. There will be at least two smaller, targeted outcomes before then. As MW said, continuing to move jobs overseas until then is a win-win for investors…but when Hess closes, the real axe will fall. Actual words were, “Hess has a lot of really good people…”

Keep it simple… we need more direction here. What we do is complex, right or wrong? Are we expected to just d-mb it down for managers, or ignore the complexity before we start ? Seems this is an exit ramp for technical experts. The message I am hearing is clearly “ we do not value your contribution”.
Try this for simple: simple = wrong, more often.

The chefs in the 1500 cafeteria are currently preparing petrotech tikka masala, exploration geologist vindaloo, and finance analyst roti.

Take off your shoes, slide on some sandals and enjoy the shareholders return lassi courtesy of low cost geographies.

CTC will be hit real hard. Bellajio was appointed to move most of ctc to india; more curry and samosas with 80% discount.
They appointed an indian in the usa to layoff the us employees and grant those positions to indians in india. Go figure man

There are rumors about additional centers beyond BASSC & MSSC - Mike alluded to this during the SETH with the reference to moving more work to Global centers. I've also heard whispers of some functions making staffing decisions with accelerated execution plans (within the next 6 months). But when is the big reveal happening? Or will this be our Christmas bonus?

I think MW already cooked and delivered a pretty big and disappointing announcement for San Ramon on August 2nd. Don’t tell us he is cooking something else. Can you be more specific for those still recovering from the August 6th Town hall.
