Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

We've been told we must demonstrate value!

Have you heard you must demonstrate value if you want to keep your job? Has anyone been told what the means? Or, is it just another buzzword with no context. Have you noticed we make grand statements with no context or explantion of what that really means. This company has a very limted attention span.

My only play at this point is to be as known and useful as possible. I've been a great employee but i can be rifed just like anyone else. I'm not sure what my actual job is, but I'm going to do my best to make sure at least some leader(s) find me valuable for something.
I honestly think that's what redeployment and talent mgmt are about. They want to find the most pliable and loyal people and pop them in and out of positions at will. No regard for an employees choice or career plan. I think we have zero plan for the future and are simultaneously riding the company of good employees and hoping the remaining ones save them. Be loyal to your colleagues. Make each other's lives easier where you can. Hope for the best. Any other plan will crush you with anxiety.

They need to get rid of some of the toxic managers who are worthless at their jobs. The employee satisfaction survey reflected how bad our manager is & nothing was done. Our manager & team lead do not know anything about the line of business they are in charge of. They have no clue. It’s sickening.

They must be recycling buzz words because I vaguely remember hearing the same thing when Tom M down in Atlanta was offshoring jobs to Legato. They are trying to come up with excuses for riffing us and protecting themselves from subsequent lawsuits.

“get rid of the ridiculous amount of VP, Directors, BCM and others with outrageous salaries” - there’s your AI focus. Stop going after the little guy and hit the million dollar salaries. Guarantee that AI is a better fit to replace them.

Demonstrate Value? Where is the company value in its employees? C’mon it’s like respect- You have to give it to get it!
You will get more Value when you restructure and get rid of the ridiculous amount of VP, Directors, BCM and others with outrageous salaries that can afford a salary cut unlike the average Joe who’s working paycheck to paycheck. You satisfied your greed that way. Not by laying off employees who are doing the work. Maybe then you will see Value in return. Provide loyalty to your employees here not offshore.

I haven’t been RIF’d yet but just like many of my other coworkers, doing the least because morale is at it’s WORST, gaining more knowledge, experience, taking a bunch of certification courses and when my time is up I will run to the bank and graciously accept my severance pay & unemployment.

And VALUES???
Do they mean the bs they came up with while sitting in a room trying to decide whose life to ruin?

HEllevance’s “Values:

Leadership = cowardly, spineless, inexperienced

Community = TOXIC, disparity, castaway

Integrity = corruption , dishonest, hypocritical

Agility = just a buzzword but definitely graceless & causing mental exhaustion

Diversity = absolutely another buzzword do avoid lawsuits
