Which teams in Audit were included in the layoffs? Did the layoffs include directors and managers?

It is obvious that someone is manipulating this thread. Suddenly, overnight, massive downvotes on a thread created 17 days ago that had little activity. Looks like someone is trying to get this removed. Good luck Sam. Too many people are tired of all of the lies and manipulation at work.

USAA needs to get rid of unethical Directors like S Mohamed. This guy is a con artist and bad actor. The best thing USAA can do is gut their managment team from Directors and above, and start from scratch.

He didn’t just procrastinate. Gilbert was unethical. He lied to regulators and the Board, he adjusted the opinions in audit reports to suite his political needs, he asked teams to falsify workpapers (in some cases successfully). That doesn’t even include his personal ethical issues: hostile and retaliatory behavior towards his directs, an affair with one of his employees and forcing ethics office to turn over complaints cases to him for said employee, and just general lack of respect for others.
He was incompetent, and honestly, I don’t even believe he understood fundamental audit principles. Everyone he hired and promoted was a reflection of him: Phil, Star, Jee, Jaime…

He destroyed the audit department. The fact that it took this long to fire him is indicative that the corruption is broader than Audit Services.

Simply put, Gilbert never did any work. He procrastinated for months on reports to send out to regulators. There were also few opportunities for advancement in the org - there are people with the same job title after 4+ years with no promise of promotion.

They're now opening up roles after their leadership team started to drop ship before Gilbert left.

The leaders are unethical and do not know how to solve problems. They lack independence and do not uphold the IIA standards. They’re a joke. Mismatched skillsets in all the audit teams. The RIV Audit team should have never been eliminated. The RIV individuals were the best at dealing with the Feds and issues. Sad they created a toxic environment where many good auditors left.

Well, it’s a sh-tshow and has been for a few years. It took way too long for Gilbert to be fired. Apparently in this org being upgraded by the regulators lets you get away with anything (including hr and ethics complaints/investigations), while being downgraded again gets you fired. He also didn’t backfill over the last few years, and now they’re trying to backfill some (regulator required supposedly) but doing it with people who are ill suited for the roles, so it’s not going to get better in the short term. Bank audit still only has 3p’s as the top 2 levels of leadership and there is no guidance from anyone.

Bank being split out feels like a separate thing more tied to the overall bank vs being an audit thing.

Overall there hasn’t been any actual strategy in the department in years, it’s all been reactionary, and with ineffective leadership it’s not a good spot to be (which could also be said for usaa as a whole, but that’s a different discussion).

Gilbert leaving, now bank is being carved out, attrition is insane.
