John Dwyer was one of the good ones

Hate to see him go.

Things are looking up. Now we just need to fire Haymons and get rid of the BS he has created with Morris. Silos, bloat, wastage, and much more.

We take the cake with sh---y leadership because they are all AT&T rejects with exception of Rittgers. They have sc--wed up the place royally. We have hope Rittgers will clean it up, especially with the departure of Mokry, but it’s been almost 9 months now and amoral Haymons, flighty Baehman and clueless Turner are still here.

This is a great thread. Had to get my popcorn.
Joking aside, sorry to our Cricket cousins having to deal with this. I’m not sure it’s that much better elsewhere in the T umbrella, but I’d bet you guys take the cake with sh---y leadership. Let’s see if your new Pres can improve the situation. Anyone with common sense would bring in new VP’s to drive change.

I can think of several of Matt’s direct reports who should be fired immediately. Narcissism, incompetence, outdated processes, working in siloes, favoritism…

I have witnessed a steady decline in employee productivity and morale over the last two years. Po-p rolls downhill…

I don’t know if Angela will make it. Either she has no real power, or she’s too hesitant to act. Maybe they’re looking to sell off this place—who knows. Probably Dwyer didn’t want to go along with whatever the higher-ups had planned, and that’s why he’s out. If Dwyer had kept his crew tight, Cricket would probably continue to be at the top.

Now, stepping away from self-interest for a moment—let’s talk about the person who has been mentioned the most here and the one some of you have alluded to.

Matt has had a favorite for a while now, someone who’s been getting special treatment for years. She has a questionable background herself - nothing related to IT or what she claims to be an expert in, but somehow, she’s been his priority - and ya'll know why some one becomes a priority when there are other 50 that do the same thing. He even tried to push her into an open position he got craft fully opened, she almost got it, too— until someone complained to HR and probably it spooked them - while they have been letting it all happen under their... . God bless !

Meanwhile, good people have been let go. And what has this joker been doing? Trace it back , he orchestrated who goes away in furlough just to make room for her. Reading the posts, one of the person that has posted here is the sacrificial lamb I think. Convenient, right? Look around—find the least talented person still here, check their history, and you’ll figure it out if you haven’t already. Most of us don't support mindless DEI, but at the same time, don't support this Good ole white boys land either. Matt didn't get his position for talent - he got it for being friend of friends - like it always worked in AT&T. Think for a minute, why he was desperate to run from LA. This ain't his first rodeo. Angela Baskerville , JT - any one knows were the most qualified local people at that time, but Dwyer erred there.

It’s disgusting that we work in a place like this.

And let’s not forget the vendors. Some of these guys are deep in their pockets, enjoying all-expenses-paid trips and calling them “business travel.” How easy is that? Small time offenders loose their jobs for pennies, and daylight robbery by these crooks happens unabated

This place is a mess.

This is tough to read, but now that I’ve had a chance to think about it, everything becomes much clearer. The place has been chaotic for years, with a lot of behind-the-scenes murmuring. Good people just seem to vanish, while we’re left hiring people who aren’t up to the task. Meanwhile, vendors are gaining too much influence over the decisions being made. After reading this, it all clicks.

Funny thing is, Hay really thinks people like him. What a laugh. Everyone sees through his “gosh, golly, gee” BS. T needs to clean house. First furloughs of 2025 should be the VP team. My bet is we would function better and more economically.

Ah, good ol' Matty, upgrading from the commoners to an actual office. Clearly, he's just so desperate to escape the chaotic, soul-su-king environment of his creating—where the only thing louder than his thoughts is probably the dirty laundry machine. Hiding? Maybe. Or maybe he just needs somewhere to stare at a screen and pretend he's productive.

It’s sickening to read all this. Do you think management really doesn’t know, or are they just ignoring it? Maybe it’s easier to avoid the tough stuff, or they just don’t want to face reality. Either way, I get it.

As for why no one speaks up—maybe they did, and it cost them their job. Companies like this are pros at silencing people with paperwork, and everyone else is too scared to risk their livelihood. It’s disgusting how those in power get away with this. Favoritism is one thing, but what’s happening here is next level. I heard of AVPs and even an AD being pushed out recently just for standing up against shady vendor deals. None of this surprises me.

And the website? Someone mentioned it earlier, and let’s be real—would you spend that much on a garbage site that constantly crashes if it were your own money? Back when I interacted with the online tech team, it was a total pi----g contest—them trying to outdo each others, playing with tech for their ego instead of helping the customer. The guy leading that team? Easily the most appalling person I’ve interacted worked with—like he’s working out some childhood grudge. His team, apart from a couple of decent folks, is no better. Come on, you’re not rocket scientists—get over yourselves. The money wasted on that website is staggering. I’ve heard they blow through 30-40% of the IT budget. He’s a great salesman, I’ll give him that—convincing people to bankroll mediocrity while everyone else gets furloughed.

This isn’t the world we grew up believing in. Those with nothing to lose should speak up. For everyone else, just do your part, even if it gets swept under the rug. Eventually, this mess will get addressed—the only question is whether the company will still be standing by then.

Stay safe out there.

Look, let’s be real—everyone knows what's going on. If you just pay attention, it's all anyone’s talking about. The problem is, they’re not talking to the people who actually matter. And why? Fear. It’s this quiet, insidious kind of fear, the kind that keeps people in check.

To the person who got laid off who posted—seriously, why not speak up? Tell what happened. We all know it's true, and honestly, I think I know exactly who you are. At this point, they can't touch you anymore. So why stay silent? You speaking out could make a difference for the rest of us who are still here, just trying to make sense of it all.

For the sake of those of us left, please, don’t let this go unnoticed. High leadership, above those at Cricket, need to know.

Corruption is the fault of high-level leadership. Provisions should be in place to prevent it. Some people are not questioned about their actions and that is why we are where we are now.

Well, ain’t this a hoot? Folks get dragged back to the office, and suddenly all them skeletons come dancin’ outta the closets! Been watchin’ these forums for a while now, and let me tell ya, it’s like a soap opera with more biscuits and gravy.

But here’s the deal—you can’t have your cake and eat it too. Well, unless you’re our charmin’ CIO. That feller’s had himself a whole bakery—cake after cake , right from LA to GA —and he’s still munchin’ away. Only thing he knows how to talk about is football. Technical knowledge? Might as well ask a possum how to code.

The good ones? Either run off to greener pastures or got ‘smartly eliminated’ so these jokers could get greased unhindered. What’s left? A handful of tired souls just waitin’ for the next train outta here. Meanwhile, the cake eater’s busy livin’ it up—games, racetracks, vacations, and more cake eatin’. Cat thinks if it closes its eyes and drinks the milk, the milk ain’t vanished.

Now, Dwyer? Nice guy, bless his heart. But do we need a ‘nice guy,’ or do we need someone who means business? Spoiler alert: his minions ran the place like a demolition derby. And what do we got now? A company run into the ground faster than a tractor in mud season.

And boy, I ain’t seen so many people transfer out, quit, or just plain disappear. Bosses don’t give two hoots about ‘em. Talent? That’s secondary. The real skill here is how well they can keep ya under their thumb. Go ahead, come evaluate—except for a few, how many competent folks are left? I’ll wait.

But hey, my old fashioned’s empty, and I gotta hit the hay. More stories for another day. Honestly, I could write a whole novel about these crooks—both the cake eater and his ‘yes master’ minions.

To save face, though, I’ll say this—some of the other VPs ain’t so bad. Maybe they won’t toe the line with Angela, but at least their hearts are in the right place. See? There’s always a silver linin’. Guess we’ll find out if Ms.Ritgers can rope this rodeo or these boys will run her away.

Let me start by saying, I genuinely love my job. I'm grateful I made it through the layoffs, and I'm thankful to still be here. That said, I won’t lie—things have definitely changed. The culture ain’t what it used to be, but I’m holding on to hope that it can get back to those glory days. Back then, it was the best work environment I’ve ever been in. But yeah, I definitely agree that some change at the VP level is needed. Just like when a new president comes into office, a fresh cabinet is necessary to move things forward. We need that reset.

Cricket is a dying brand. Website is awful, marketing focuses on wrong demographic, promos su-k, leadership is corrupt, etc. The list could go on. Mokry left because he did not like questions being asked by Rittgars. Dwyer left before we slide down the mountain. The only way I see us surviving is if Rittgars brings in her own set of VP's and gets auditors to evaluate huge contract wastage. This is change that we would all stand up and applaud.

I am a woman of color currently at Cricket HQ. I hate to admit it but IT leadership is racist and misogynistic. I hate having to interact with them.

Just to add my two cents on the previous post, yes, they are definitely racist. That’s one of the main reasons I left. I worked under two different AVPs during my time, one was Caucasian and the other Indian. Now, I am Indian myself, and I experienced racism from both of them. I won’t get into naming names, but any minority who’s worked there will know exactly who I’m talking about. These two are always in the good books of the CIO. And don’t even get me started on the CIO – that person has made racist comments, and I personally witnessed it twice.

I also saw the favoritism with vendors like Amdocs and Tech Mahindra. Honestly, those are just mediocre vendors at best. I’m now working with another major telecom company, and they recently had to boot Tech Mahindra for poor performance and overbilling of hours. I’ll never understand why companies keep going with these big firms based outside the US. Oh wait, I know why – the executives are all getting their pockets lined in some way...

...better be careful you all...
Matt will, in his words "surplus" anyone who is onto him. It happened to me. I had access to all procurement contracts and started raising questions about them and IP deals. Within a month, I was furloughed. after 20 plus dedicated years. I did the right thing in questioning company assets but in the end, Matt will always win.
Dwyer did not retire willingly, don't be naive. Matt had his hand in it. Luckily, the new CEO was brought from the outside. Hopefully she can reel in the corruption and Cricket survives what he has done...
Lastly, very racist things are happening. Look how minorities are furloughed and fired at higher rates proportionally. He and his team treat Minority Suppliers awful. The DEI and Supplier Diversity divisions need to open their eyes. Then again, the "blue eyed boy" of Cricket gets away with everything.

Darin Morrow was a good CIO/VP. It has been downhill since. I was fortunate enough to transfer to AT&T as Cricket IT is a circus now. I can’t speak for the other VP’s as I didn’t report to them, but the IT org needs better,

These comments are GOLD!! I have been at Cricket for about 3 years having transferred from AT&T. It was obvious early on that Haymons is incompetent. In my first Big Room Planning, in front of a team of 200 whom all roll under him, he spoke about football and his preferred teams. It was evident he has no clue how to be a leader. As time went on, it was easy to realize his preferred vendor (you all know who) calls the shots. There are no checks and balances to what is occurring right now with this situation. They have made Haymons their B-tch. This vendor of his will be rebadging all of us old timers soon to be their employees. They will own Cricket at the rate Haymons is going. Vendor Management parades around letting this go on out of allegiance to Haymons. Maybe they are getting paid off too.

Oh I have been waiting for someone to finally call Matt Haymons out on his cr-p. He is as dirty as they come. Anyone else at his "End of Year" gathering? What a joke. Dwyer was a complicit enabler to people like our glorious CIO who is robbing us blind. There is no way Dwyer did not know.
I might be in the minority here, but Kristi Turner and Tiffany Baehman actually seem to care about the company. Tony Mokry's time was up, good riddance.

Dwyer was ok- not a bad guy, but not what we needed. I agree about Haymons. His corruption is apparent and seemingly ignored. I’ve known/worked with him for over 15 years and didn’t see it until the past 2. He’s getting paid off somewhere. Overall his behavior and alliances are questionable, both with vendors and female employees. Turner is probably the only one I could make an argument should stay, Baehman is probably getting ready to turn those papers in. At least they not being bribed and running the company into the sewer like Haymons though.
Let’s hope Angela was brought in to drain this cesspool, we have endured way too much.
