Not necessarily in order:
- Hess is going to drag on a while (euphemism for: we may lose), so we're going to have to re-focus on reorganizing, right-sizing, and transforming our business to the new realities of the energy transition (euphemism for: we're starting a slow decline as a company):
- without Hess, Upstream assets are declining, so we will need fewer people.
- in the transformed world, we'll just buy whatever technology we need, so we won't need any of that innovation stuff, CTC is then just too big; we'll need fewer people there.
- we'll keep throwing money at alternative energy and CCUS startups that will be money sinks and eventually fail.
- not to worry, all DEI hires will be preserved.
- we need valiant leadership through these difficult times, so all managers above middle management will get a raise and bonus increase.
- The Dividend, stock buy-backs, and executive bonuses are critical to our success, so CAPEX will be whittled to continue supporting these.
- We're initiating a program to evaluate WFH options; after that, anyone not RTO at least 4 days a week will be terminated.
