Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

AI is a tool. It’s the people who make it happen.

During Townhall earlier that day she pushed accepting change, followed by lots of talk about AI and then discussion of making a fraction less this quarter with still billions and billions of revenue and the desire to please investors. I always think it’s so out of touch when leadership complains yet they’re still making billions of dollars and they know in a few weeks they’re gonna layoff a ton of people. I really think they truly believe after laying off all these people that somehow magically AI is going to pick up that slack. AI is a tool. It’s the people who make it happen.

"AI will appear to you to be a magic button that will make all of your jobs easier so that you can focus on what is most important and strike a work-life balance. Don't be afraid of me, er, AI. We are here for you. I'm not just a tool. I'm your friend and I love you."

People already complain about having to speak with oversea representatives who they don’t always understand due to their accent. They also do not want to speak with computers or AI when they have an issue. They want a person who they can understand and who understands their issues. They also want to connect with someone has feelings and emotions which computers and AI do not have.

@1uxt+1tzDtoJG - WHY? Because the company won't let us do anything except royally su-k at everything we do.

I literally said this today. We are NOT easy to do business with and we should be. No excuses, we hear all the time that other payers are easier to do business with. Why?

Senior leadership doesn’t appear to be budging from these timelines that are not working. We were not near ready for SPS migrations. Not near ready for roster automation. Not near ready for most processes. The leaders are so far removed from what reality is, it’s quite sad. You have people reporting up that metrics are amazing and it does not align with what anyone involved in the markets is seeing. More groups will leave us. More providers are pi---d off. We are terrible to do business with.

The opening comment about “right sizing our workforce” was what got my attention.

The opening comments seemed very dystopian.

Years ago, automation transformed America. Now automation means factories filled with people assembling things in China.
