Was an absolute joke. Very clear between this and the Skills Assessment exercise, the goal is to find a reason to let folks go "with cause" to avoid severance payout. Manager was combative when I pushed on how the assessment didn't align to the responsibilities I've been assigned to execute. Got the "be positive" treatment as opposed to addressing the review itself.

In talking to other staff in my department, this has been much more common for MidYears than positive feedback. Wouldn't be shocked if many people leave before January at this rate with this stupidity and disingenuous behavior abound.

Post ID: @Rcyn+1qC0NMPJ Citi has of course again holding "How to manage your Career progression and Demystifying the Promotion Process" BullSH!T meetings. It's SOS Same Old SH!T as in previous meetings. There is absolutely Nothing mystical, mystifying or confusing about Citi's "Promotion Process". Citi should simply email the below to its employees and prospective employees-Svckers:

  1. Unlike real banks and other competitors, Citi promotes only at most 20% of its employees each year.
  2. Even if your MD or D fights for you during the always heated and contentious promotion meetings to make their and your case for your promotion and by extension a significantly higher salary, only 20% of Citi's employees will be promoted.
  3. Citi's 20% at most maximum is Not unlike applying for a job, applying to a selective College or University (e.g. Ivy League and sister-Ivy League), or buying a raffle ticket in a Raffle. You can apply for hundreds if not thousands of jobs at an Employer, but still never get a job offer. No matter how good or smart you are (e.g. play in varsity sports, have a 4.00 high school GPA, have a 1550 out of 1600 SAT score, etc.) you still have a high probability of getting rejected by the selective Colleges/Universities since they have an admissions rate of 30% or lower (e.g. the Ivy League colleges/universities average a 10% acceptance rate).
  4. In relation to #3), you will find that other Employees were promoted for right or wrong reasons, some are less qualified than you but are promoted due to favoritism, politics, nepotism, brown-nosing, etc..
  5. Because of the above, 80% of Citi employees will NOT be promoted. Other posters already mentioned that Not all relationships are meant to be for right or wrong reasons, and that divorce, Quitting is always an option. You need to wake up, plan and execute your Exit Strategy Out-of-Citi and get promoted at the higher Salary by a new External Employer.
  6. Stated another way, assume there are 5 Academy Award nominees for Best Actor/Actress, whatever category. Only ONE person will take home that Academy Award or 20% of the 5 nominees. Post ID: @2Yeiy+1qC0NMPJ

The conversation bore no resemblance to the comments the manager put in Workday.
So obviously getting ready to set the employee up to fail…like never saw THAT tactic before…sigh!

In Risk DART I'm anticipating it's Not going to be a good or positive conversation. Regardless, I've already committed to quitting and leaving this CitiH3LL-Hole Circus Banana Republic.

Mine was good. My manager but some thought in to it. I’m happy with 3$ I’ve got maybe 2-3 years before retirement so I’m coasting. But I might still finish up somewhere else. My real background in outside of banking in fortune 100 companies. A recruiter just pitched me a role with a 20% bump. Issue is do I want the hassle of learning a new job vs stay in cruise control

got a positive review. No number scale, just mentioning my achievements for the 6 months and where I can improve but happy with my work. I wonder what is the point? Maybe to keep the employee around by making them feel good about their work.

They always tell me I'm pretty much the best out there until year end when all of the sudden I have all sorts of shortcomings and get no bonus and very little raise.

Most d-mb Managers want to keep you behind screen and get credit of work you have done and safe their position.

I had my meeting today, and it was a waste of time. They're just going through the motions, and no one really cares.

Waste of time and effort. Managers trying to earn their position by sizing you up on your accomplishments in the last six months and your plans for the next six months. With all the changes happening daily, goals set are almost nonexistent by the time the next six months roll around. These evaluation conversations and the managers conducting them are a joke.
