I'm getting tired of constantly having to stress over what's coming next week or next month. Is there ever going to come a point where we'll be able to solely focus on our jobs, instead of having to worry about cuts and whatever else mess the leadership is getting us into?

I just focus on my work each day, keep my head down and avoid the RIF rumor mill. The die is cast, people who are being let go has been already decided. There is no point in creating anxiety for yourself . Just make sure your resume is updated, look at the jobs on the internal job site and external. Update your LinkedIn profile, and maybe call around to a few head hunters. After that, just take it one day at a time... that's really all you can do. I was in a RIF once, so I know how futile worry is. If you, I, We make it past 8/8 make sure you use every single benefit you can... stock, 401k, tuition meaning get another degree on Anthem's dime. If they RIF me again, I leave with 4 degrees they paid for.
The fact that the current leadership does not understand, or maybe doesn't care, the impact this stress has on morale and productivity tells you a lot about them.
They are being guided by McKinsey consultants who think you can "streamline" your way to high profitability. Outsourcing is actually one of their strategies. Of course McKinsey alum Jeff Skilling went on to run Enron (just before Enron became the biggest corporate bankruptcy in US history, its top five executives took nearly $300 million in wages in a single year).
That went swell.
My division is in such chaos. Today I’m shouting lay me off already so I can get relief from the ridiculous amount of stress. At the same time I have the best coworkers and would hate to not work with them anymore. And of course the obvious, my family needs my salary.
No, not at this company or any other publicly traded company.
I feel the same way. However, I also worry about the idea of going on unemployment and not finding a similar paying position/open position if everyone else is competing. I wish Aug 8th would get here so I know if I’m safe or not.
