But it’s not. It’s all rigged and depends the least upon your performance, dedication, contribution and experience. Actually, many of those can be a burden because it also means you are a more expensive employee. So, do not dedicate yourself to this or any other place. Do your job as in description, preferably aim for “less work for more gain”, and always look for better jobs.

Wonder how many people they can notify in an hour? It's so awful for people needing to schedule surgery, or in the midst of buying/ or closing on a house, or have a sick child or spouse in chemo treatments. Yes there is cobra- but have you seen how much that costs? Can’t afford that with a high paying job, even less with no job. Everyone here knows it is a job, and that’s all…. But it means so much more…. We know if we work hard, are dependable and do well, we shouldn’t just lose our job. We can plan basic necessities for our families. Sorry got off topic, but just had to say it. They should give us more warning.
If it were based on performance and the performance is poor, they would go the warning , written warning out the door method. ( Why pay severance to a poor performer). If your performance is good ,your salary and bonus are comfortable or on higher end hence the reason to lay you off you're an expense to the organization. You're welcome
You know what would be even better? Let us volunteer for layoff. Some people are much more ready and able to take on something new elsewhere. Enough of this cr-ppy lottery where you DON'T want your number to be pulled. It is a cruel way to run a company.
It’s the constant shuffling and lack of reasonable security that’s making me weary. So we wait until 8/8 to learn our fate, then if we are here 8/9 it’s waiting for the next hammer to drop.
Yes that is true, often RIFs come down to reaching a $ goal for the division, and feeding more people to the HReaper when that goal wasn't met.
